Intel Iris Xe update comes with a warning

"Installing this graphics driver from Intel may remove customizations from your computer manufacturer (OEM)."

This message came up when I tried to correct the problem on my laptop in which in the Microsoft Word program there is no visible fluidity when scrolling through the document. So I searched for information and opted to try to upgrade the GPU drivers. But it gave me a warning and recommended that is better to get the updates from Lenovo but I checked and there is currently no driver update. What do I do? I make a restore point and try making the update through intel?

PD: The update showed up using the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant.

Hello Kupito,

The warning message you received indicates that installing the generic Intel graphics driver may overwrite any customizations made by your laptop’s manufacturer (OEM), which in your case is Lenovo. These customizations can include specific optimizations and features tailored to your hardware, which might be lost if you install the generic driver.

If no OEM updates are available, you can proceed with installing the Intel driver. Here are the steps:

  • Create a System Restore Point
  • Manually Install the Driver: Intel® Arc™ & Iris® Xe Graphics - Windows*
  • Test the System
  • After installation, test your system to ensure everything is working correctly, especially the scrolling issue in Microsoft Word.

In addition, after installing the Intel driver, monitor your system for any issues. If you notice any problems, you can use the system restore point to revert to the previous state.

If you encounter any issues or if the Intel driver does not resolve the scrolling problem, consider reaching out to Lenovo support for further assistance. They might have additional solutions or be able to provide a customized driver update

@Kupito

You need to update drivers from Lenovo, not from Intel. Intel provides generic drivers only. You should contact Lenovo for the issues.

Hello, I apologize for the delayed response. I was able to resolve the scrolling issue by adjusting the settings in Adjust windows performance and appearance, specifically by disabling the *Animate controls and elements inside windows* option. I will now investigate the Intel graphics driver as a potential solution.

My laptop is equipped with an Intel 12th Gen Inter Core i7-1255U processor, 8GB of RAM, and Intel Iris Xe 31.0.101.4502 graphics. I typically run CSGO2 at 40-60 frames per second, so I will attempt to update the driver to determine if it rectifies the problem.

Thank you for your patience, and I apologize for any inconvenience caused by the delay in my response.
