Hi

I am trying to disable adaptive lightning on my Lenovo PC.

When I open up the Control Panel (by right clicking on the desktop) and access the power options, this is what is displayed to me.

The same screen for the "On battery" window:

I am totally unable to scroll or change window size or anything in order to change these settings.

I have tried using a secondary screen via hdmi to no avail.

Changing the adaptive lighting option in the WIndows Setting does not work for me.

Any advice?

So I found a thread somewhere, suggesting a certain numbering format was messing with the Intel settings GUI.

This worked for me but I'm not sure it's a universal "fix".

1. Go to: Change date, time and number formats.

2. Change decimal symbol from comma to dot.

3. Intel's option GUI is correctly displayed now.

Looks like a random issue caused by .NET framework and it has been reported by others several times before.

I had that some months ago as well:

It went away after some Windows updates.

Did you receive automatic Windows updates yesterday ("security Tuesday")?

Yes I did receive that update, it did not solve the problem I'm afraid.

Every time my machine goes through a major update, it rolls back to adaptive lighting = on.

I can't remember how I managed to turn it off the last few times.

So I guess this is a Microsoft issue and not Intel..

Hi simalina,

Thank you for sharing your workaround; I am pretty sure more people will find it useful.
