Intel UHD 620 Screen Flicker Issue

Currently using a Huawei Matebook X Pro. After a driver update early this year the screen would start to flicker so badly that the laptop would be unusable. The only way to stop the screen from flickering is COMPLETELY DISABLING THE INTEL UHD 620 GRAPHICS DRIVER.

This would fix the flickering and make the laptop usable again but it means losing the ability to adjust screen brightness and play any type of even the lightest of gaming. Entering BIOS and the screen not flickering and trips to the Huawei Service Center have both confirmed that there is no issue with the hardware. Only disabling the Intel driver fixes the issue. Trying to disable the NVIDIA MX150 does not remedy the flickering in the slightest.

Ive tried the following to fix the issue:

  1. Upgrading the Intel Drivers: Still Flickers until disabled
  2. Downgrading the Intel Drivers: Still Flickers until disabled
  3. Updating Windows: Still Flickers until disabled
  4. Using the Drivers provided by the OEM on their website: Still Flickers until disabled
  5. 2 clean installs of windows: Will be fine until Windows automatically installs the Intel UHD 620 drivers then it will flicker until disabled.
  6. 1 clean install on a GPT instead of an MBR partition: Same result as point 5

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello RG0001 Thank you for posting in the Intel Community. • Did this behavior start after a system diver update or operating system update? • Have you made any BIOS changes or updates prior to this behavior? • Have you reported this behavior with HUAWEI? • What drivers versions have you installed for testing on the system? • Please attach to this thread the TXT file the Intel® System Support Utility will generate: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility • Steps to save the report: 1- Run the utility. 2- Click on “Scan” to get the scanned system. 3- Once the scan is complete click on “next”. 4- Use the “save” option, save the report to your desktop. 5- To attach a file, you must click the “Attach” option on the bottom left-hand corner of the response box. Hope this helps. Regards, Leonardo C. Intel Customer Support Technician Under Contract to Intel Corporation
