This issue can occur if you have a non-DCH-based driver installed and the driver update being attempted is (to) a DCH-based driver. The DCH-based driver packages do not have the ability to uninstall or upgrade older, non-DCH driver packages, so this must be done manually. You should use a process like this:
- Download the DCH-based driver package and place it on your system drive (anywhere you wish; location isn't important).
- Disable Internet access. Unplug Ethernet cable and/or disable Wireless access.
- From the Apps / Apps & Features Settings scene, uninstall the non-DCH driver package (look for Intel Graphics Driver entry).
- Reboot.
- Install the DCH-based driver package that you downloaded in Step 1.
- Reboot.
- Enable Internet access.
- Note: Windows Update may want/need to install updates at this point. You should manually go to the Update & Security / Windows Update Settings scene. If no updates are in progress, click on Check for Updates and, if any are necessary, they will commence. If updates are (now) in progress, wait for them to complete and reboot if this is then requested.
- Optionally, you can download and install the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel app from the Microsoft App Store.
- Test.
Hope this helps,

Thanks for the quick reply. That sounds manageable and I'll give it a try next days. Will report on result.

Sorry to say, but it did not help. Following strictly this sequence it still results in : "Not for this System". However the driver is recommended by the Intel Driver assist.
Now, helpless. Positive: the system still works fine.

Another thought: do you have another (NVIDIA/AMD) graphics card plugged into your motherboard? This often results in the Intel HD Graphics engine being disabled by default. You may need to change the BIOS configuration so that the Intel HD Graphics engine will remain enabled if another card is detected.

Hi to Scott and WannerG,
first I have to be more precisely: The error message says (translated from german): "The driver just to be installed has not been validated for this computer. Get the appropriate driver from the manufacturer of your computer".
As this is an individual assembled computer on an MSI board this is not possible. However, this driver was recommended by Intels Driver Assist.
And second: There is no other graphics output other than the Intel processor graphics.
...third: The Win 10 is the most actual 1809 build 17763.316
And fourth: The procedure from WannerG to uninstall the driver resulted in a low resolution screen. And after reconnecting to the internet and restarting the system the driver version .6471 was activated again by the system.
Everything is as it was before.

Hi WannerG,
sorry for the delay, but this also doesn't work.
Getting to Apps & Features there is NO entry for the Intel Graphic Driver.
So I deinstalled the old one by going to the Devicemanager and used "deinstall" Intel Graphic.
After restarting Windows (still disconnected) from the Internet there is no entry for the Graphics at the Devicemanager anymore. However, the screen resolution is as normal.
Now installing the the new version I'm getting the same rejection as before.

Thank you Wanner, it's fixed. 🙂
The crucial point was under 9: "Repeat steps #6 through #9 until "Intel® HD Graphics" changes to "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter")"
I had to do this twice! So previously I just wondered why there was nothing indicated as driver. It was just empty. But doing it twice resolved the problem and the new driver works fine.
Thank you again for the excellent support.
Great.
