Intel Warp Black Screen Bug

The display goes black when playing a video; the image returns when scrolling away from the video.

A strange horizontal warping effect also appears when moving the mouse.

The effect eventually disappears on its own. The glitch isn't visible *in* captured videos on the system itself. A black screen during video playback effectively rules out the monitor as the source of the problem.

July 20, 2026: The bug occurs regardless of the browser - whether Chrome or Firefox.

It makes no difference whether the driver is new (32.0.101.7088) or old (31.0.101.5592). The old driver had been installed for years, so it’s unlikely to be the cause.

Removed the driver using DDU and reinstalled it after restarting Windows. The Intel Graphics Command Center also reinstalled itself.

July 25, 2026: The error recurred before 10 PM. Right-clicking inside the YouTube video (opening the on-screen menu) fixes the black screen, but the warping persists. The warping disappears after minimizing the browser for 1-2 minutes.

The Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool ran without a problem.

I suspect an issue with the video decoder as the problem always appears when playing a video. I also suspect a hardware issue as I cannot capture the warp effect on video directly on the system. Maybe an update in the software codec unveiled an issue in the hardware video decoder? YouTube mainly uses the vp09 codec.
