Hi,
I have a Ubuntu 20.04 running on ThinkPad T14P 2023 with a graphics being Intel Iris Xe Graphics.
However, it seems it does not work as my laptop cannot never detect a monitor through HDMI.
I tried How to Identify & Find Graphics Drivers for Linux* and find the output (a7a0) is not listed
- 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Device a7a0 (rev 04)
Subsystem: Lenovo Device 50d3
00:04.0 Signal processing controller: Intel Corporation Device a71d
Subsystem: Lenovo Device 50d3
Is there anyone who meets this problem and knows how to solve it?

Hello robinDrone,
Thank you for providing the detailed information about your system. I understand how frustrating it can be when your external monitor is not detected.
Kindly answer the following questions:
- Have you installed the latest Intel Graphics Driver for Ubuntu 20.04?
- Have you tried using different HDMI Cable or port?
- Could you run xrandr in the terminal and let me know if your system lists the HDMI connection at all?
Please generate an SSU report to help me further analyze important details on your system. To generate the SSU report, please refer to the article: Intel® System Support Utility for the Linux* Operating System. Please send us the generated SSU.txt file.
We look forward to your response!
Best Regards,

Hi Robbie,
Thanks for your kind reply.
Here are the answers:
- Have you installed the latest Intel Graphics Driver for Ubuntu 20.04?
No, because in the product list, I cannot find any one relating to Intel Corporation Device a7a0.
- Have you tried using different HDMI Cable or port?
Yes, none of them works.
- Could you run xrandr in the terminal and let me know if your system lists the HDMI connection at all?
here is the output:
<xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default
Screen 0: minimum 2240 x 1400, current 2240 x 1400, maximum 2240 x 1400
default connected primary 2240x1400+0+0 0mm x 0mm
2240x1400 95.00* >
with one monitor being connected to my laptop.
Please find the SSU report attached.

Hello robinDrone,
Thank you for providing additional information and for your patience. Based on your xrandr output and the system details, it looks like the external monitor isn't being properly detected.
It seems that the underlying reason of the issue you're experiencing is because of the current Kernel Version you are using. Since you are using a 13th Generation Processor with Iris Xe Integrated Graphics, these components are relatively new and require more up to date kernel and driver support to function properly.
We would like you to try installing a much more newer version of Ubuntu to test if the same errors would still arise.
We look forward to your response!
