Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family has me locked into full screen

i have an hp laptop that has intel graphics media accelerator driver installed running the 4 series express chipset family. ive tried to change it from full screen setting down to centered setting for my desktop background pic. but it won't let me. i check the centered box then hit ok button thinking it had changed it but it never does. can anyone please help me?
