NUC8I5BEH1 HDMI to Displayport Adapter Does Not Work

I am trying to use a NUC8I5BEH1 mounted on a VESA bracket to a Dell monitor. The monitor has a Displayport connection, not an HDMI. I bought an adapter cable from Amazon, but there is no video going to the monitor. I tried a longer HDMI cable with a separate Displayport adapter, and there is still no video signal going to the monitor.

I tested the monitor on my desktop PC using a standard Displayport cable from a RTX 3070 with no issues.

I use the NUC8I5BEH1 with an HDMI cable to my Samsung 28" 4K monitor with no issues.

Anyone have any idea why the adapter/cords aren't working?

Thank you for looking.

Adapters for video signals with different transmission protocols are almost always unidirectional, i.e. they only work in one direction. There are many from DisplayPort > HDMI but almost none from HDMI > DisplayPort.

However, you do not need a converter for the video protocol. Please simply use this cable and connect it to the USB-C/Thunderbolt port on your NUC8BEH. Your device can output a DisplayPort signal via the Thunderbolt port that does not need to be converted and can be fed directly into the monitor via the DisplayPort connector.

Thanks, I didn't know that about the HDMI/Displayport.

I already have a cable as you mention and I was going to use it if I couldn't get it to work the other way. So looks like I will dig it out and use it.

Thanks.
