I have an older Lenovo Thinkpad using Win7 and have begun experiencing problems with the display fracturing. Sudden movement of my cursor will trigger fracturing wherever it is moved and I'm unable to point and click on anything. I have to hold the power button down on the computer to shut it down and then reboot.
Occasionally, separate from the fracturing, the screen will just go black. I get this message: Display driver Intel HD Graphics Driver for Windows 8(R) stopped responding and has successfully recovered.
I wonder if, when I've updated drivers, I've downloaded one that does not work with Win7. Several programs on this computer don't work with Win10 so I'm limping along with Win7.
I would be grateful if you could tell me what driver to download, or path to take to fix this. The Intel Driver Support Assistant says it cannot connect to the internet. See screen shots with info about Thinkpad & Driver.
Thanks.

Really? I'm older than dirt and was hoping to die before my computer! Would replacing the hard drive help? Years ago someone in a Windows support group (I think) was sure the problem I was having indicated need for a new hard drive, so I bought one and backed up everything, expecting the axe to fall any moment. It never did.

Hello,
Based on the information provided, it seems that the issue you are experiencing is related to a hardware problem. In such cases, it may be necessary to consider replacing the entire machine.
Adding unique value: It is important to assess the severity and nature of the hardware problem to determine the most appropriate course of action. Depending on the extent of the issue, repairing the machine may not be feasible or cost-effective, making it more practical to invest in a new replacement. This decision should be based on factors such as the age of the machine, the cost of repairs, and the availability of compatible parts.

AlHill & Jaaanbutt, thanks. It makes sense, with the age of my Lenovo Thinkpad, that it is a hardware problem. I'm looking for a replacement and hope to have it set up and running before my current computer dies completely. Thanks again.
