Unable to run 5120x1440 on Intel UHD 630 with HDMI 2.0

Hello,

I am attempting to run a 5120x1440 display (Samsung G9) and the maximum resolution I am being able to select on Windows is 3840x1080.

Prior to this, I was able to run 3840x2160 with no issues, which is more pixels than 5120x1440. What gives? If it can run 4K, why can't it run 2K ultrawide? I am on the latest version for my CPU (10850k) which has integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630.

Graphics Driver Version number: 27.20.100.9466, released 03/30/2021

champagnepaki, Thank you for posting in the Intel® Communities Support.

In order for us to provide the most accurate assistance on this topic, we just wanted to confirm a few details about your system:

What is the model of the motherboard?

If this is a laptop, what is the model of it?

Is this a new computer?

Were you able to use the 5120x1440 resolution before?

Are you using adapters or converters to connect the monitor?

If so, when did the issue start?

Did you make any recent hardware/software changes?

Which specific Windows* version are you using?

Does the problem happen at home or in the work environment?

Please attach the SSU report so we can verify further details about the components in your platform, please check all the options in the report including the one that says "3rd party software logs":

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows-?product=91600

And also please provide the Intel® Graphics report in order for us to verify how the monitor is being recognized:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005848/graphics.html

Any questions, please let me know.

Regards,

Albert R.

1. Model of Motherboard: NZXT N7 Z490

2. Not a laptop

3. It's fairly new, was built with the most recent parts in January 2021

4. I was never able to use the 5120x1440p resolution before because I was on a 3840x2160 display prior

5. No adaptors or converters. My monitor is connected to my motherboard with a high quality HDMI 2.0 cable

6. No recent hardware or software changes.

7. Edition Windows 10 Pro

champagnepaki, Thank you very much for providing that information and the reports.

Based on the SSU report, we can confirm, as you mentioned, that the Intel® Generic Graphics drive version is properly installed in your system.

According to the monitor specifications, it does support the 5,120 x 1,440 natively:
https://www.samsung.com/us/computing/monitors/gaming/49-odyssey-g9-gaming-monitor-lc49g97tssnxdc/#specs

Regarding the motherboard specifications, it states that it uses HDMI 1.4b and the max resolution supported is 4096x2160@24Hz:
https://nzxt.com/product/n7-z490

After reviewing the Intel® Graphics report, based on how the monitor is being detected it supports the resolutions below, as you can see 5,120 x 1,440 is not listed:
640 x 480 (60p Hz)
640 x 480 (67p Hz)
640 x 480 (72p Hz)
640 x 480 (75p Hz)
720 x 400 (70p Hz)
800 x 600 (56p Hz)
800 x 600 (60p Hz)
800 x 600 (72p Hz)
800 x 600 (75p Hz)
832 x 624 (75p Hz)
1024 x 768 (60p Hz)
1024 x 768 (70p Hz)
1024 x 768 (75p Hz)
1152 x 864 (75p Hz)
1152 x 870 (75p Hz)
1280 x 720 (60p Hz)
1280 x 800 (60p Hz)
1280 x 1024 (60p Hz)
1280 x 1024 (75p Hz)
1440 x 900 (60p Hz)
1600 x 900 (60p Hz)
1680 x 1050 (60p Hz)
1920 x 1080 (60p Hz)
3840 x 1080 (60p Hz, 4K)

If you open the Intel® Graphics Command Center and look for the resolutions in there, do you see 5,120 x 1,440 showing up?

Just to let you know, we always recommend to install the graphics driver provided by the manufacturer of the computer, since that driver was customized by them to work with your specific platform.

I looked in NZXT and there is an Intel® driver that was tested and validated by them, please try a clean installation of that driver following the instructions in the links below, please look for the 'Download" section:
https://nzxt.com/product/n7-z490
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000057389/graphics.html

Also, we advise to get in contact with NZXT to gather the instructions on how to do a BIOS update and to make sure the proper BIOS is installed:
https://nzxt.com/support

The specifications of the processor state that when using the HDMI port, the max resolution is 4096 x 2160@30Hz:
https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/205904/intel-core-i9-10850k-processor-20m-cache-up-to-5-20-ghz.html

So, once you get the chance, please let us know if the resolution you are looking for becomes available after installing the graphics driver provided by NZXT and the BIOS update or if the 4096 x 2160@30Hz appears in there.
