I'm unable to switch my default gpu from the intel(r) UHD Graphics 630 to the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 gpu. I am required to switch from this setting other wise I will not be able to use NVIDIA Control panel. I need this to change my default gpu setting so I can fix my obs studio so i can record gameplay.
If there are any questions or concerns let me know asap.

Sounds like you have a desktop PC?
Default GPU can usually be switched in advanced settings of the BIOS.
Review the manual of your mainboard.

Would you know exactly what setting it would be called or is it bios dependant?

Open the Nvidia Control Panel.
Select Manage 3D Settings under 3D Settings.
Click on the Program Settings tab and select the program you want to choose a graphics card for from the drop down list.

That’s the problem, I can’t get into my nvidia control panel at all. Every time I try to open it through right clicking it always says “NVIDIA Display setting are not available. You are not currently using a display attached to an NVIDIA GPU” when I own and am using a NVIDIA GTX 1080

Did you connect the monitor directly to the NVIDIA GPU?
Do not connect to the video port of the PC mainboard.
Standard or DCH video driver?
Appear the GPUs in device manager properly?
Can you make screenshots from both GPUs with GPU-Z?
Every manufacturer uses different BIOS settings.
Upload a SSU report so we know your exact brand and model.
