Update of 'Intel(R) HD Graphics' driver fails on Windows 10 Home

Hi,

I have just installed WIN10 home edition on a desktop.

Auto updates are ready for installations, however, each time I am starting the installations the computer crashes and a hard reset is required.

I see in the progress bar that it fails on the graphic card installations.

Manual installation fails as well.

I tried also "Intel(R) Driver Update Utility 2.6" software. but it fails there too.

Any solution?

Thanks,

Hello shneor,

What is the processor and integrated graphics that you have on this system?

You can provide us that information by running the Intel® System Support Utility.

You can download it here:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility?product=91600 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility?product=91600

Intel® System Support Utility (Intel® SSU) is a standalone utility that performs a detailed scan, report, and analysis of your computer system information and devices. Intel SSU produces an output file that can be saved, viewed, and shared by the user.

Hello shneor,

Please try http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005598.html uninstalling the Intel® Graphics Driver and Intel® Display Audio HDMI Driver. Make sure you uninstall both drivers, the graphics and audio driver as it shows on the picture below.

Reinstall the latest Intel Graphics Driver from the https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26228/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-and-Windows-7-8-1-15-40- Download Center. The Intel Display Audio HDMI Driver is included in the download, and is automatically installed.

Install the graphics driver manually; please http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005629.html How to Manually Install an Intel® Graphics Driver in Windows® 10

I hope this can help you.

Regards,

Ivan

Hi Ivan,

I did as you advised.

When I try to install the driver I am getting the error below

After PC restart the drivers are installed again, I guess by Windows itself.

Thanks,

That message indicates that you system manufacturer does not allow the Intel generic driver, all drivers for your system need to be downloaded from the system manufacturer website.

In other words, a customized computer manufacturer driver is installed on your computer. Installing a generic Intel® driver instead of the customized computer manufacturer driver can cause technical issues. Contact your computer manufacturer for the latest driver for your computer.

See list of http://www.intel.com/support/oems.htm manufacturer support websites.

Hi Ivan,

Thanks for re-opening this tread.

I could not install the drivers.

I have a Gigabyte motherboard with Intel's components on it.

When I tried to install drivers from Gigabyte site, the computer totally crashed. I had to format and re-install the OS.

the question now is,

Is there any way you can assist? or it is now Gigabyte's responsibility? or maybe Microsoft's?

Thanks

Hello shneor,

From our end, the only way for you to install the driver is to do it manually

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005629.html How to Manually Install an Intel® Graphics Driver in Windows® 10 & Windows 8* or Windows 8.1*

Before installing manually, you will need to completely uninstall the driver already installed and reinstall it manually, following the steps from the link above.

If the problem persists, it is because a customized computer manufacturer driver is installed on your computer. Installing a generic Intel® driver instead of the customized computer manufacturer driver can cause technical issues.

What is your motherboard model and ram part number?

Do you have the latest BIOS installed for this motherboard? Make sure you run windows update and to install not only the graphics driver, you need to install all the drivers available from your motherboard manufacturer website.

I can try to help but I suggest you to keep in touch with Gigabyte as well.

Regards,

Ivan
