Hello,

I use the CPU Core i7-4850HQ and GPU Iris™ Pro 5200. I find that it has a last level cache. It writes it is 2-8 Mbytes in the following url. I want to know exactly what size is it?

https://software.intel.com/sites/default/files/managed/4f/e0/Compute_Architecture_of_Intel_Processor_Graphics_Gen7dot5_Aug4_2014.pdf https://software.intel.com/sites/default/files/managed/4f/e0/Compute_Architecture_of_Intel_Processor_Graphics_Gen7dot5_A

The information you are looking for is available here: http://ark.intel.com/products/76086/Intel-Core-i7-4850HQ-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_50-GHz http://ark.intel.com/products/76086/Intel-Core-i7-4850HQ-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_50-GHz and here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Core_i7_microprocessors http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Core_i7_microprocessors

In this case the answer is 6 MB.

Also to avoid future questions of this kind you can try the followings before posting:

-Google search your CPU model and visit the page from ark.intel.com that is returned as result, the information is provided there, look for Intel Smart Cache in that page to get your answer.

-Alternatively you can search on Wikipedia. First you need to search for the model (Intel Core i3, Intel Core i5 or Intel Core i7 or any other you are interested on), then search for the exact model you are having on the resulted page. Usually the information is presented in a table.

OK. Thanks for your help.

I read that page, but haven't thought that the smart cache is the last level cache! I think this design is interesting. Thanks!

Sorry, I have another question. Is the cache line size for the last level cache is also 64 Bytes?

I know 64 Bytes is the common cache line size for Intel CPU, but I haven't found any place officially telling the cache line size. I only find some discussions on stackoverflow.

Hi merlion,

The Cache should be 64 bytes for all Core Architecture and later.

Hello,

I am wonder what is the ® Iris™ Pro 5200 Gen7.5 frequency? 1.3 or 1.3 GHz?

In The Compute Architecture of Intel® Processor Graphics Gen7.5 page 13, it writes 1.3GHz.

https://software.intel.com/sites/default/files/managed/4f/e0/Compute_Architecture_of_Intel_Processor_Graphics_Gen7dot5_Ahttps://software.intel.com/sites/default/files/managed/4f/e0/Compute_Architecture_of_Intel_Processor_Graphics_Gen7dot5_A

But in the following url, it writes max freq. of GPU is 1.2 GHz.

http://ark.intel.com/products/76086/Intel-Core-i7-4850HQ-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_50-GHz ARK | Intel® Core™ i7-4850HQ Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.50 GHz)

Another question, the last level cache and the L3 cache for CPU are the same right?

The eDRAM and the LLC all connect to the SoC ring directly? But the GPU can access the eDRAM while the CPU can access related LLC, right?
