Why UHD graphic from N305 works on Linux 6.6 and not on 6.5 ?

Hello,

I've got a new Minis Forum UN305 machine that includes an N305 processor.

When installing Debian Bookworm + linux kernel 6.5 on it, I need to pass i915.modeset=0 to have something on my HDMI screen.

Then, screen resolution is fixed to 800x600.

Fortunately, when running Debian Live Trixie which embeds kernel 6.6, everything seems to work OK (resolution to 1900x1080).

How can I learn more about this ? Any doc explaining this or method to further investigate ?

Could it be possible to run kernel 6.1 (the one that normaly powers Debian Bookworm) with some custom i915 options ?

Best regards

Hello oliv2831,

Since this is an OEM original equipment manufacturer device, please take into consideration that our support is limited since we are not familiar with the technology, settings, customizations, custom drivers, and features that the OEM has designed and installed your system. I did try to look into this for you however, the only listed Operated System on their website is Windows11_Pro_22H2 as shown in this link: https://www.minisforum.com/front/support/80/UN100/UN305. It is best if you can coordinate this with Minisforum regarding it's compatibility as they might have done some specific configuration and alterations on the system that we are not familiar of. You may reach out to them at this link: https://www.minisforum.com/front/support
