I have a predator helios 300 with an intel core i59300H CPU. I used to have more than one option in the graphics command center > Display > General > scale. Now There's only one

Hello dev4stian,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities. I understand you are having issues with the Intel® Graphics Command Center.

I would like to let you know that when using the Recommended Screen Resolution for the selected display, only Maintain Display Scaling will be visible. The Custom scaling option will also be available in order to correct overscan.

The remaining scaling options (Centered, Stretched, and Maintain Aspect Ratio) will be revealed when a screen resolution different than the maximum supported resolution or recommended for the selected display is selected.

Previous to build 1.100.2765.0, switching to Centered, Stretched, and Maintain Aspect Ratio when using the Recommended Screen Resolution would not make valid changes to the display, hence the scaling options were removed when the Recommended Screen Resolution was set.

Hello,

Firstly, sorry for resurrecting an old post, but I want to bring another perspective to the issue. I understand that the option was removed on 1.100.2765.0 on good faith, because it would not make valid changes to the display. However, a user may desire to set that option not based on the current state of the display, but to be effective in case the resolution ever changes.

For example, if you open a fullscreen program that sets its own resolution, you can't change the scaling; because as the program is fullscreen, when alt-tabbing the resolutions will come back to the desktop native resolution and the scaling option will be blocked.

Also, if on a laptop with a dedicated GPU (like mine Inspiron 7472), you also can't set scaling options for the dedicated GPU. If you open a fullscreen program that uses that second GPU (e.g. a game), it is treated by IGCC as a separate display, and you can't set any scaling options for it for the same reason (when alt-tabbing, the iGPU takes over again and the option vanishes). The NVIDIA Control Center only offers 3D settings, because it delegates screen settings to the main, integrated, GPU.

The old, legacy control center offered the scaling option independently of the current GPU/resolution, and when set for a display, the setting would work for either iGPU or dedicated GPU. The workaround for me at the moment, was to revert to the legacy driver and use the legacy control center - not ideal, as old drivers have some privilege escalation vulnerabilities.

I've already given feedback Case #06240744 on this issue. Again, sorry to bring up an old issue, but I want to leave this report here for future customers that face the same limitations weigh their options to make best use of the product.

Regards
