so i have:
WIN 10
Intel® HD Graphics 530
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960
Intel® HD Graphics 530
PROCESSOR
Intel® Core™ i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00GHz
and am installing new software for a music software program that requires.
Graphics hardware support for OpenGL 2.1 or higher and Direct 3D 11.1 (Feature Level 11_0) or higher.
trying to determine whether it will work with my video card and processor. any help is appreciated
if not compatible a suggestion on a different video card is appreciated. thanks.

Your intel graphics are part of the processor. Different graphics means different processor, which means socket, bios, and chipset compatibility are an issue.
For the nvidia card, you are on your own.
