I can confirm that using the older driver revisions meant for Windows 8.0 work well on 8.1. However, I decided to help guinea pig the latest driver. I've ensured that I have the latest BIOS and Nvidia graphics driver also installed for good measure (my laptop uses Optimus).
So far I have gone 24 hours without a BSoD, which is a good sign. However, the previous drivers would sometimes run a graphically intense application for 10+ hours before coming to a halt, so I'll report back in 2 days if the new drivers continue to be stable. For what it's worth, even if a game was using the Nvidia discrete graphics card for hardware acceleration I would still get a BSoD pointing at the Intel HD system file when using the previous driver revisions.
I have updated my BIOS to the newest version. However, I am not sure what video driver you want me to update as the Intel Graphics driver is 10.18.10.3316 which my dell website is telling me is the newest. I have uploaded a new DxDiag for you. I tried running Civilization V after the BIOS update and it still gives the same BSOD error. Any help would be appreciated and let me know if there is a different driver I am supposed to update for the video. Thanks!
Okay, it has been three days and the latest driver (Version: 220.127.116.11.3345) has been completely stable after running various games for hours at a time. I have only tried the x64 version due to my OS, but I assume the x86 version will also yield the same success.
@ty58527: Diego_Intel is referring to the drivers he linked near the bottom of the fourth page on this thread. Dell is not providing you the latest drivers as of this time, so you'll need to get them from Intel directly. Hi, I am an user of Windows 8.1 and I have the same issues about that BSOD with the same code of error: (igdkmd64.sys). This wrong only appears when I start playing World of Warcraft and always when I play with the Skype open, showing the window of teh memory.
Well, I have updated all the drivers of Windows Update and the GPU with the program NVIDIA experience, but the BSOD was there once again. Then i read this threat and I downloaded the Intel driver Win64_15338 but, at last appears a windows saying to me that the driver is not compatible with my Computer.
I have a Toshiba 64 bits Intel Core I7 with a very good GPU, i do not know whats wrong and I want:
1. Tell me what is happening around this.
2. What is wrong with my computer and that driver.
3. If it is another way to fix it.

I have the same problem, and can't install drivers to work. I have Radeon HD7870 as a secundary gpu, and onchip Intel HD4000 graphics on Celeron G1610 on my primary monitor, on a ASRock B75M-R2.0 motherboard with the latest BIOS.
I have tried all of the above suggestions, but to no avail...

Hello. I updated my laptop to Windows 8.1 through the Microsoft Store about 2 days ago. I tried playing games on it today but it was giving me this same error. I have looked through this post and have tried downloading and updating the driver like mentioned in the earlier posts, however, my laptop would still crash when running the game. I am not very good with computer terminologies, so I don't really know what specs and such I need to include on this post. But I do understand that I should include a "dxdiag" on my post. Anyways, please give me some guidance on how to fix this issue. Thank you!
@Angel: Your DxDiag says your driver version is 10.18.10.3316, but you need 10.18.10.3335 which has the BSoD fix. @DiskoDasa: Your case is a little confusing to me. You seem to have the correct processor/OS combo to install the latest driver, but you claim it won't install (which seems to be the case as DxDiag shows you using the generic video driver). Have you already updated your BIOS as suggested? Also what is the error you receive when trying to install the driver linked in this thread?

It scanned my computer and pretty much told me which of my drivers have an updated version that I can install. Once I installed it's suggestion, I now have version 10.18.10.3345 and I am happy to say that so far, after hours of continuously running the game that was previously causing the error, my laptop hasn't crashed. I am attaching an updated dxdiag with this post. I hope that what worked for me might help others who are experiencing the same thing.
Here is the newly-created DxDiag file. I am getting this message in the Device Manager ==> Intel HD Graphics properties: "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)".
When i install the newest device driver, it doesn't show any error, but, when I restart the PC, in Device Manager ==> Intel HD Graphics properties it shows me again Code 43...
I have tried several versions of graphic drivers but it is the same situation over and over again... I have even removed all GPU's drivers and reinstalled them but I couldn't find the way to make it work properly.
I have installed Windows 8.1 two weeks ago, and it is the same situation ever since.

@SantiMP: Okay, so you are using Intel's driver version 10.18.10.3308 but need 10.18.10.3335 just like Angel. You are also on Windows 8.1 x64, so you can download the same driver I linked for her. @DiskoDasa: I believe an Intel employee will be able to help you better, as they are most likely to understand what the code 43 error entails. In the meantime, you can try the driver update utility that Angel linked to in her post. You also have yet to mention if you ensured that your BIOS are fully updated which could be necessary due to your lower-end Celeron processor. I also find it odd that your system model info was not filled in by your O.E.M. How did you originally get your laptop; with Windows 8.0 installed? Was everything working fine before you upgraded to 8.1? You may consider finding/creating a separate topic for your issue as it is not related to what the others are experiencing here.

Like many here I'm also have BSOD crashes in Win8.1 under the 10.18.10.3308 driver. I've gone through the Intel update page and it detected my HD4000 adapter and prompted me to download the Win64_15338.exe file like it did with SantiMP. Also like SantiMP running the install told me it was incorrect for my system.
I also have a Toshiba Ultrabook. So, any enlightenment on this particular issue would be great. Thanks!
I was experiencing this same issue,
then I realized, my VGA monitor attached to my laptop was not installing the driver for my HD graphics...
Is anything plugged into your HDMI port? (obviously you have one ) try plugging into a television then attempt installing the driver again...
(error not less or equal means something is missing, or not turning on. - once I really understood what that meant, this just had to be the answer.)
I too am having issues related to BSOD during a game. I have never had a BSOD while I was not in a game, and it appears that the issue is stemming from the Intel Graphics Driver 4000. The issues only started appearing after updating to Windows 8.1. I received a couple of low memory warnings asking me shut down a game in addition to the blue screens. These errors occur eventually no matter what when I play a game, though I do not receive low memory errors just before blue screens (I have closed the program when the warning occurs).
I have attempted to update my driver from version 10.18.10.3308 but it says that the new driver is not compatible with my ASUS G46VW.
I hope this issue can be resolved. Here is my DxDiag file.
Thanks for the suggestion, PP, but that didn't solve the compatibility issue for me. I may need to call Toshiba and see if they have any suggestions. But, ug, I hate dealing with the low level grunts that insist on walking through every dang script they have in front of them without knowing what any of it means.
