Hi,
As the subject says,
I cant enable full range RGB output trought HDMI. But there is no problem sendig full range signal throught vga or dvi connectors.
It's an old problem that never got fixed.
Please review this problem and provide a fixed driver.
There was an option to choose Full Range or Limited Range in the intel proprties application but got removed or never worked.
This problem, i repeat, exists only with the HDMI output.
Another problem is that intel drivers don't respect EDID Override option in the registry.

Thanks dtuxi,
Think I tried that already - but I didn't see the byte sequence (0xE2, 0x00, 0x0F) anywhere. I'll give it another try - and this time make sure I follow your steps exactly (I might have missed something ).
FYI I trying this using direct connection from the computer to projector (no AVR inbetween as to aviod 'interference').
Again thanks for you help!

Thanks, but I'm a little confused. I see references to "JVC". Perhaps you've mistaken my BenQ monitor with MickDK's JVC Projector

MickDK you dont have an HKR,EDID_OVERRIDE,"1" section, make sure you have JVC9216 [Real Time 0x......] selected. this correspond to bytes 80 through FF in Raw Data Windows. if everything is 00 there, i will try to create this block for you, but i cant promise succes.
SoyaBeaner, unluckily your edid doesn´t contain a Video Capability Data Block (it allways start with 0xE2, 0x00, i will try to insert it. but i don know how to do it yet.
I think i was lucky because my EDID contained 0xE2, 0x00..

dtuxi,
Could you please provide full sequence of characters for your VCDB section? As far as I understand 0xE2 0x00 0xCF are only the first three characters of this sequence. It is possible to see highlighted sections of CEA in EDID Manager (http://www.extron.com/download/dltrack.aspx?file=EDID_ManagerV1x0.exe&id=38772 http://www.extron.com/download/dltrack.aspx?file=EDID_ManagerV1x0.exe&id=38772) in bin EDID from MonInfo.
Thanks!

look @ page 93 of http://blogimg.chinaunix.net/blog/upfile2/090903185737.pdf http://blogimg.chinaunix.net/blog/upfile2/090903185737.pdf
the first byte of the VCDB is 07h followed by 02h.
07h=111b (only 3 bits)
02h=00010b (5 bits)
so it gives 11100010b=e2h <- first byte
00h <- 2nd byte
and in the 3rd byte the capabilities of the monitor are defined.
The problem is when the Cea Extension block (2nd 128 bits of EDID) does't have e2,00

Thanks!
I used Advanced EDID Editor from Lightware (http://www.lightware.eu/index.php/support/downloads/667-advanced-edid-editor-software http://www.lightware.eu/index.php/support/downloads/667-advanced-edid-editor-software) to add missing Colorimetry block to CEA: it just inserted four characters in 20/7 - 20/10 position (fourth character was 00) and shifted all following character consuming 4 emtpty 00 characters. The checksum was also auto-recalculated.
Then I just replaced first 3 characters of added Colorimetry block with 0xE2 0x00 0xCF and used updated bin to create inf in MonInfo, which showed correct VCDB block in CEA:
CE video capability data
CE scan behavior......... Supports overscan and underscan
IT scan behavior......... Supports overscan and underscan
PT scan behavior......... Not supported
RGB quantization range... Selectable (via AVI YQ)
YCC quantization range... Selectable (via AVI YQ)
Unfortunatelly there appeared no rgb range selection option in Intel Graphics Properties in TV / Monitor Settings even after registry change of SDVOHDMI_SupportCEA861D to 1. It seems that GMA 3600 driver is somewhat different from HD3000 in this matter...
Can you please tell what is the difference in what you've done in the post @03.09.2013 17:25 and @05.09.2013 19:05?

Sorry Mike I'm still working on yours.
bivan: I'musing Extron Edid Manager and Moninfo. In Extrons I read the Edid and in Moninfo I make the changes. The two windows side by side .
Keep in mind that you have to change the 3rd byte of the cea extension block like this.
02,03,xx to 02,03,xx+3 because you insert the 3 bytes of e2,00,cf.
This 3rd byte points to the start of the first Detailed Timing Descriptor, In case that inserting the 02,00,cf makes the last Detailed Timing Descriptor go over the end, you have to set the last Detailed Timing Descriptor to all 00, till the cheksum. This Descriptors are sorted in preference order.

dtuxi,
I really appreciate your time and help on this. However, I'm lost on your steps 6 & 7:
6) Then go to Device Manager, Display and you should have 2 monitors, identify your projector, (properties, details, hardware id).
7) Then manually update the projector driver with the .inf (update driver, search driver in equipment, choose from a list, have disk, choose install aniway in the not signed driver prompt)
😎 if everithing goes ok, reboot.
9) in intel driver properties change to full range
In Device Manager, I still only have 1 entry under "Display adapters": Intel(R) HD Graphics.
When I attempt to manually update the driver with the new .inf file, I see this error dialogue: "The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with Windows for x64-based systems." This is even after I unticked "Show compatible hardware" on the previous screen.
I'm on Windows 7 x64 if that matters.

Thanks! I'm not sure if it really worked for, but some things did change:
1) My Quantization Range now keeps reverting to "Default" upon reboot. Intel's help states "Default is range specified by the display" I'm on the original Intel HD Graphics (first gen), so maybe the setting is different. There are 3: Default, Limited, Full. At least it doesn't keep reverting to Limited like it used to.
2) My colours are now washed out (likely related to the ICM color profile being reset). Actually, this is how it looked when I last reformatted Windows 7. Hopefully I can remember how fixed this in the past. I think it was through downloading my monitor's driver via Windows Update, but then that would defeat the purpose of this overrided .inf file .
3) In checking against http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/gradient.php# gradient-h.png Gradient (banding) - Lagom LCD test , I still have visible banding (that doesn't appear when I'm using old fashion VGA cable). I guess it didn't work after all.

I've checked that one also. Lagom is the site I always visit to manually calibrate my monitor because I don't have a hardware calibrator. My black levels are actually worst than it was previously, when I was able to view even the top row of squares. I'll have to revert to the monitor's .inf file.
It's strange to conceive the fix requires hacking one's monitor .inf file. If this was the case I wonder how AMD drivers have their own setting to toggle the RGB range...

Advanced EDID Editor changes 1st DTD offset automatically upon inserting new block.
The fact is that I see VCDB with correct values (along with 4 DTDs) in updated bin in MonInfo, but registry override is not effective. Either it is GMA 3600 driver problem or I'm still missing something.

Hi dtuxi!
I've followed your guide but I think there is no change. Blacks are greys and a picture is washed out in movies.
The display: Samsung 40A656 TV, the modified driver (inf) is installed.
Graphics driver: 15.33.0 beta (latest whql driver has artifacts whit XBMC)
This driver has Metro UI, I found Limited/Full Output in Video section but nothing changed with this.
The Windows desktop looks OK but with DXVA playback blacks are gone.
What's wrong? (except that drivers have serious problems just like this)
