intel integrated graphics hdmi refresh rate bug

Recap:

https://community.intel.com/t5/Graphics/The-Intel-integrated-graphics-driver-cannot-find-the-75hz-option/m-p/1441993

I bought 2 nuc12wski7 and NUC12DCMi9, I found that when I use HDMI cable, I can't set 75hz refresh rate.

I use the same monitor, the same cable, plug it into an amd or nvidia graphics card and it can set 75hz correctly.

Whether it is the integrated graphics card of i9-12900 or the integrated graphics card of I7 1260P, the output of 75hz cannot be set under the windows platform.

intel graphics command center can recognize that the display supports 1080p 75hz, but it cannot be set.

But I can display 75hz correctly using ubuntu 22.04 and fedora 37.

Is there any solution please?

Hello, this is the diagnostic information obtained by using the 31.0.101.1999 version of the driver. DisplayPort can be set to 75hz, but hdmi cannot. In intel's diagnostic information, both monitors can be set to 75hz, and the intel graphics command center shows that the second monitor is 75hz, but it cannot be set. In the settings of windows, one monitor is 75hz (DP), and the other is 60hz (HDMI).

Please note:

Both AMD and NVIDIA graphics cards can be set to 75hz when using the same HDMI cable.

Intel is under the windows system, using DisplayPort can set 75hz, HDMI can not.

The behavior under Linux is consistent with NVIDIA and AMD.

Hello number201724,

Thanks for your time. In this case, Can you test with the latest generic driver from Intel:

Hello number201724,

We were able to use the very same NUC and set the resolution to 1920x1080@75Hz using an HP monitor. We are running the latest graphics drivers and the latest BIOS version. Please refer to the screenshot below.

1920x1080@75Hz.png

We don't know the reason why 1920x1080@75Hz is not working for you in Windows* but does work when running Linux*, it may be a compatibility issue between your display and the Windows* driver not being able to detect that the monitor is capable of 75Hz.

We don't really have a solution for this issue as it seems to be very specific to your hardware integration, I would try previous driver versions as the last troubleshooting attempt but cannot guarantee anything.

I apologize for the inconvenience.

Regards,

Ronny G

Hello Ronny,

Are you using an HDMI connected monitor?

It can't be set to 75hz only if using HDMI. 😞

I have 2 monitors connected to the same machine, one with HDMI and one with DP.

Hello number201724,

Thanks for the confirmation, seems that the issue persists despite Ronny_G_Intel's information. Allow me to check on this, however, bear in mind what Ronny_G_Intel shared related to this problem.

I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Hello number201724,

Thanks for your patience. We have tried to replicate with a similar configuration and the resolution of 1920x1080@75Hz worked.

This could be related to the Graphics Driver for Windows that is not recognizing the display as 75Hz capable monitor thus not allowing this refresh rate.

I recommend you get in contact with us directly to discuss the refund options that we have for you:
