A770M - no VRR support on Gigabyte M32U ?

Hi.

I have NUC12SNKi72 (A770M) + Gigabyte M32U monitor (https://www.gigabyte.cz/monitors/M32U/Specification)

In arc control, there is not possible to enable VRR. 

Is it limitation of current drivers ? VRR is working fine on PS5.

 

OS Windows 11, all drivers updated, HDMI 2.1 cable connection.

The integrated graphics in your NUC12SNKi72 cannot output VRR over HDMI. TMDS = Transition-Minimized Differential Signaling. This corresponds to the capabilities of the "old" HDMI 2.0 at 18 Gbps.

 

Please connect your monitor via DisplayPort.

Thak you for information, the HDMI 2.0 limitation of A770M was not metioned anywhere.

I will try DisplayPort 1.4 cable.

HDMI Licensing Administrator, Inc. (HDMI LA) does not allow HDMI 2.0 to be specified in the technical data anymore. The HDMI 2.1 Specification supersedes 2.0 and 2.1 continues to make reference to, and rely upon, HDMI 1.4b Specification. All the new capabilities and features associated with HDMI 2.1 are optional (this includes FRL, the higher bandwidths, VRR, ALLM and everything else).

 

In 2018, HDMI LA's chief marketing officer Brad Bramy said: "We're trying to make this as confusing as possible." And that's exactly how it happened.

 

Unfortunately, Intel can't do anything about it but has to adhere to the demands of the HDMI LA. So:

 

HDMI 2.1 TMDS = HDMI 2.0 18 Gbps

HDMI 2.1 FRL = HDMI 2.1 Fixed Rate Link up to 48 Gbps including VRR
