Hello,
after upgrading to an Intel Arc B580 I've been encountering some issues when trying to play my favourite game!
Graphics Driver Version: 32.0.101.6256
SSU Report: attached in post
Game: Hunt: Showdown 1896 (Steam)
Graphics Settings: 1080p, Fullscreen, Low Preset
Issue(s):
Terrible performance and very inconsistent frame rates that get progressively worse over time.
In all other games (with one exception but i think its because its dx11?) i have tried it's performing as it should.
CapFrameX files are attached to this post, didnt let me upload json files on their own so in a zip.
I would expect to be able to play on higher graphics settings presets with my graphics card but i can't even play the game on the lowest due to the frame rate drops and constant stuttering. My old non-intel gpu that was far less powerful performed better than this.
To me the gpu utilization seems kind of low but i have no idea.
Generally, it's doing better in the soul survivor gamemode. When i started playing the normal gamemode with teammates it got significantly worse. In the end i played soul survivor again but it was also doing worse than the other times i played it.
You can reset this decline in performance by deleting the shader folder in the game files but its only a temporary fix because it gets bad again really fast, especially when playing the normal gamemode.
Another issue i encountered after upgrading to an intel gpu was that sometimes the shadows of the game get overly dark to the point you cant see anything in them. The darkness spreads out from a square that randomly appears on the screen and it can also disappear again for a while. It didnt happen today when i took the performance captures but you can fix it by changing your global illumination setting which is problematic when you combine this with the first issue. It will definitely come back when you switch back global illumination to low. Restarting seems like the only semi-reliable fix. Screenshot how it looks is attached.
Hopefully this is somehow understandable.
Also, the instructions in the pinned post of this forum for the installation of CapFrameX are outdated. The Configuration file was in %appdata%/Roaming/CapFrameX for me instead of Documents.
Thank you

Regrettably, my friend and I experience the same issues as the OP.

Me and a friend have exactly this problem. The screenshots resemble exactly what our games look like. I hope for a fix soon since Hunt Showdown is by far my favorite game and it's currently UNPLAYABLE, literally UNPLAYABLE. I can not see any enemies, even if they stand right in front of me!
I beg for a fix Intel, please.
Kind regards,

Hello 986,
Thank you for bringing your concern to our attention and providing detailed information regarding the issues you're encountering with your Intel Arc B580 while playing Hunt: Showdown.
I understand how frustrating inconsistent frame rates, performance, degradation, and graphical glitches like overly dark shadows can be.
With that being said, I noticed that you are currently using the driver 32.0.101.6256. As of the moment, a newer Driver Version is available, which would be 32.0.101.6449.
I highly advise for you to perform a Clean Installation to avoid any errors.
Kindly let me know if the issue persists with the new driver.
I sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding.
Best Regards,
Robbie R.

Hello,
I really appreciate your response and help with my issue!
Unfortunately, I'm not able to figure out how to install this specific driver version. The driver versions are part of the same .exe and the installer automatically installs driver 32.0.101.6256. I don't see any option to choose the newer version. Intel Graphics Software also doesn't show any available newer version.
Thank you,

Hello 986,
Thank you for your response and for providing additional details. I understand the concern regarding the installation of the newer driver version.
The driver pack is indeed bundled with the same installer package, but the system may automatically select the version it determines is most compatible, or it may be possible that the previous driver was not uninstalled properly.. Upon checking, the latest driver, 32.0.101.6458_101.6257 WHQL Certified is currently available. To ensure the latest version is installed, please perform a Clean Installation.
Follow the steps below to completely uninstall and reinstall the graphics driver.
Identify and Download the Graphics Driver
- Open the Device Manager using the steps provided for your operating system:
- Windows 11*/10*/8.1*: Right-click the Windows Start button. Select Device Manager.
- Windows 7*: Click Windows Start, click Run, type: devmgmt.ms
- Expand the Display adapters section.
- Identify the Intel Graphics device among the options listed.
- Access Download Center, search for the Intel® Graphics model identified in step 3 using the Search box located in the top-right corner.
- Select the driver from the list that is designated for the operating system (Windows 11/10, 8.1, or 7).
- Download the .exe file.
Execute a Clean Installation During Driver Installation
- Click the .exe to initiate the driver installation.
- Agree to the Intel Software License Agreement.
- Click the checkbox to Execute a clean installation.
- A clean installation removes all old drivers and restores Intel settings to the default value
- Click Start to begin the install.
- Reboot the system if prompted.
If the above method cannot resolve the issue, try to use Display Driver Uninstaller to uninstall the graphics driver first, refer to:
How to Use the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to Uninstall an Intel® Graphics Driver
I look forward to your response!
Best Regards,
Robbie R.

Hello,
the issues still persist after a clean install of the new drivers. Once again the game didnt run great but stable in the beginning and it became very unstable after a bunch of matches. I'm really not sure if it's a coincidence but the sudden decrease of performance happened one match after playing with a teammate again. The shadow bug also still exists.
Thank you,
986

This is the exact same problem on the ARC A770 including weird white fog in the buildings that makes it impossible to see anyone regardless of in game settings. Updated the drivers and clean installed but problem still persists as of 1/18/25. I added pics of the fog as well also as the shadow issues just like OP. I play at 1440p but exact some problems at 1080p too. @RobbieR_Intel

Has performance improved since Jan? I'm thinking about getting a B580 - Hunt is the only game I play

For me, performance has significantly improved compared to January and doesnt degrade anymore over time. I get around 120fps on low/medium settings (B580, Ryzen 5 3600). Still experience frame drops when a lot is going on like a bunch of fire or in some parts of the maps but that might just be the fault of my cpu? Its definitely playable though. Keep in mind that the devs don't officially support Intel Arc cards so if something breaks, then you are out of luck and can only hope it magically fixes itself someday. This is just my experience and it might vary like the various lighting bugs people experience(d?).

Hi 986, thanks so much for quick response! I ordered the B580 based on your feedback, and with the money saved over a 5070 also grabbed an X3D to help with the CPU. So fingers crossed. See you in the bayou...

(I also have a Ryxen 5 3600X so hoping the 5700 X3D really helps).

Hey, is there any update on how well Hunt runs on your setup? I've been thinking about upgrading my cpu because the performance took a complete nosedive for me recently and every time i check out the game again, its a lottery if it is even playable in the slightest or not. Hunt is not the only game that does this so i guess its the known issue with cpu overhead when pairing intel arc gpus with older cpus?

Ok so I do have something to say about that. I ran the B580 with my 3600X and was a bit disappointed by the results. I was coming from an older intel gaming laptop with a 3070 Ti and I was hoping for some improvement over the laptop but didn't get that. I had to run 1080p to get 85 fps on very high quality but 1440p on Ultra dropped to 30-40s. However installing the X3D saved the day a bit. I can run textures and objects on Ultra with the lighting, water, shadows, and particles turned down one notch and get 60fps at 1440 which makes me happy. I do get some occasional drops into mid 40s in some scenes though.
However - I am getting some bad stuttering. It may happen only once every 3-5 minutes, and it's usually a half second - but last night I was in close quarters combat and got a 1.5 second freeze frame while my team mate was spectating. I have never experience stuttering on NVIDIA. I think my understanding is this is B580 issue, but I need to do research on possible solutions. I wonder if messing with the target VRAM settings in Hunt could help.
