The Intel Arc b580 graphics card encounters an unknown error ffffff when playing Red Dead Redemption 2 using Vulkan, lower FPS with DX12, instability and lower frame rates in Devil May Cry with DX12, while DX11 has terrain flickering or display bugs. How to resolve this?

Hi Lu_qwq,

Thank you for reaching out to the Intel Community Forum. To assist us in investigating the issue, please provide the following details:

  1. Can you confirm if the unknown error "ffffff" occurs consistently when playing Red Dead Redemption 2 using Vulkan, or are there specific conditions that trigger it?
  2. Have you tried using the OEM driver for testing?
  3. Does the issue occur only during cutscenes? Or does it also happen during regular gameplay or menus?
  4. When did the issue start? Was it after a specific driver update or game patch?
  5. Are there any specific settings or configurations you have adjusted in Red Dead Redemption 2 or Devil May Cry that might affect performance?
  6. Have you used Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to completely remove all residual drivers and installed a new one?
  7. Have you tried adjusting the graphics settings?
  8. Could you provide a screenshot of your in-game display and graphics settings?
  9. Which gaming platform did you use to download the game?

I would also like to obtain 3 CapFrameX log to thoroughly analyze the FPS performance. Kindly ensure that the game would run for a minimum of 3 minutes each.

Additionally, to gain a comprehensive understanding of your system, please use the System Support Utility (SSU). This tool will generate a text file compiling all your system information. You can follow the instructions at this link and send the text file here. Help Guide for the  Intel® System Support Utility for Windows* software.

If you have any questions, please let us know. Thank you.

Best regards,

After a fresh installation of the graphics card driver, there was no occurrence of the unknown error ffffff when playing 'Red Dead Redemption 2' with Vulkan. I will try DX12 tomorrow.

Hi Lu_qwq,

Thank you for the update! I'm pleased to hear that the fresh graphics driver installation has resolved the unknown error "ffffff" when playing Red Dead Redemption 2 with Vulkan. This is excellent progress and confirms that a clean driver installation was the right approach.

I look forward to hearing your results with DX12 testing tomorrow. Please let me know how the performance and stability are with DX12 in Red Dead Redemption 2, and also test Devil May Cry to see if the DX12 instability and frame rate issues have been resolved.

For your DX12 testing tomorrow, please check:

  1. Devil May Cry DX11: Whether the terrain flickering/display bugs still occur

If you continue to experience any issues with DX12 performance or DX11 display problems after the fresh driver installation, please provide the additional information I requested earlier:

  • System Support Utility (SSU) report
  • CapFrameX logs for performance analysis
  • Screenshots of your graphics settings

Please keep me updated on your testing results, and don't hesitate to reach out if you need any further assistance.

Best regards,

Sorry I've been a bit busy lately. The following document is the CapFrameX log under dx12 for "Red Dead Redemption 2". The FPS for both "Red Dead Redemption 2" and "Devil May Cry 5" is not very stable under dx12, with a maximum of 120 FPS (with vertical sync) and a minimum of around 45 FPS. Additionally, "Devil May Cry 5" does not experience terrain flickering/display errors in dx12 mode.
