Graphics Driver Information
- Graphics Driver: Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620
- Driver Version: 31.0.101.2121
- WHQL Certified Driver: Yes
System Information
- Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8565U CPU @ 1.80GHz
- Motherboard: HP (Model: 8549)
- RAM: 16 GB
- Operating System: Windows 11 Pro (Build 22631)
- Power Supply: Connected via an external docking station
Issue Description
I have two external monitors connected to my HP EliteBook 840 G6 via a docking station (one HP and one Lenovo). I disabled my lock screen and successfully combined both displays to watch a movie across both screens.
To better align the displays, I flipped the orientation on both monitors to use them in horizontally flipped mode. However, when I return to the display settings to recombine both monitors, Windows automatically resets the orientation to landscape, preventing me from keeping the flipped orientation.
Steps to Reproduce
- Connect two external monitors (HP & Lenovo) via a docking station.
- Disable the lock screen and extend the displays across both monitors.
- Flip both displays horizontally.
- Attempt to combine both monitors into a single display.
- Observe that the orientation is reset to landscape automatically.
Expected Behavior
- The combined display should retain the flipped orientation instead of reverting to landscape mode.

Hi, Nasir1.
Thank you for posting in our Community and for providing detailed information about your setup and the issue you're experiencing. I understand that you have a laptop. To set your proper expectation, please note that since this is an OEM (HP EliteBook 840 G6) device, our support may be limited as we may not be familiar with the specific technology, settings, customizations, custom drivers, and features that the OEM has designed and installed on your system. Nevertheless, I will do my best to assist you with your concern. Have you updated the docking station firmware? I noticed that firmware updates can sometimes resolve compatibility issues with external monitors. It might be worth checking for any available updates. Do you see any specific error messages or notifications when the orientation resets? Identifying any error messages can help pinpoint the cause of the issue. Have you tried connecting the monitors to a different docking station or directly to the laptop? This can help determine whether the issue lies with the docking station or the laptop's settings.
Have a nice day!
Best regards,
Von M.

Thanks for getting back to me Von.
Unfortunately there is no error on the display when combining both displays.
I am unaware, how to update my docking station - could you elaborate on that please?
Lastly, I can't connect both monitors due to limitation of cables. both my screens are HDMI and the laptop has only one HDMI port.

Hello, Nasir1.
I do apologize for the confusion between docking station and docking station firmware. It's good to know there are no errors on the display when combining both monitors. This helps narrow down the issue. This is a bit unusual, so I'll need to do some additional research on this issue. I'll post an update in this thread once I have more information.
Best regards,
Von M.
