Feedback on Frame Rate Abnormalities in Monster Hunter: Wilds with Intel Arc A770 Graphics Card

Dear Intel Support Team,

With the recent release of Monster Hunter: Wilds on Steam and other platforms, we appreciate Intel's prompt release of a new driver update. However, the driver appears to be exclusive to the Arc B-series GPUs (e.g., B580). Unfortunately, the game suffers from severe performance issues on Arc A-series GPUs, specifically the Arc A770.

Issue Details:

  • The A770 struggles to exceed 22 FPS across all graphical presets, even at 720p/low settings, unless frame generation is enabled.

  • At 2K/max settings, the framerate remains similarly low (~20-24 FPS), suggesting a lack of optimization for this GPU.

  • In contrast, the Arc B580 delivers smooth performance (60 FPS at 2K/medium settings without frame generation). Such a drastic performance gap (over 300% difference) between A-series and B-series GPUs under similar conditions is unexpected.

Questions/Requests:

  1. Is this performance discrepancy related to architectural limitations of the Arc A-series GPUs, as rumored in the community?

  2. Could the driver team prioritize optimization for the A770 in Monster Hunter: Wilds? The current framerate makes the game nearly unplayable.

  3. Are there any temporary workarounds or settings adjustments to mitigate this issue?

We kindly urge Intel to address this urgently, as the A770 is still a capable GPU and should not lag this far behind the B-series in a major title. Thank you for your attention!

Same problem here, on my AMD 3900x + A770(8GB) PC, the game only can run at 25fps@1080P on LOW Setting + XeSS (Ultra Perfermance), which is totally extremely laggy and unplayable. Under these settings, the graphics look like a 3DS game, and settings have been lowered as far as they can go.

  1. I have been using the A770 16G for a year, and this issue does not occur in other games.

  2. My A770 is a GUNNIR model.

  3. The attached files include temperature readings, graphics settings, frame rate data, and CPU/GPU utilization metrics.

  4. I tried updating GPU drivers, adjusting graphics settings, and checking forums/communities. All A770 users report the same issue, but there is no data available for the A750 due to lack of feedback.

I can use DDU to try updating to the latest driver again—I’ll do whatever it takes to improve my gaming experience. Before that, I want to share my latest progress: with driver 6078, my frame rate doubled. My post-frame-generation FPS went from 30 to 60, meaning my native frames increased from 18 to 36. This shows there’s still hope for optimizing this GPU. However, this driver version has many issues, like the accelerator not working and low FPS being very low and frequent. While the frame rate is high, it severely impacts gameplay. I’ll try using DDU to update the driver again at 14:00 Beijing Time on March 6, 2025.

I’ve reinstalled the driver using DDU. The frame rate improved slightly compared to the previous 6632 driver, with the native FPS increasing by about 8 frames. However, it’s still far behind the performance of driver 6078. With driver 6632, my FPS ranges from 18-20, while driver 6078 delivers 29-32 FPS. Additionally, likely due to game optimization issues, both drivers suffer from severe low-FPS stuttering. Please prioritize optimizing based on driver 6078 as a reference, though it’s not perfect.

Regardless of whether it’s the B580 or A770, the native frame rate at medium settings should ideally reach 50 FPS—not just 50 FPS after enabling frame generation. This needs urgent attention. Please address this as soon as possible.

I would like to note that there is a low power utilization bug right now with the B580 cards, If you could share your reported wattage used in this game (gpu) along with a Superposition 4k default benchmark screenshot, showing the power utilization in that benchmark.

Your A770 MIGHT be facing the same issue as the B580 and B570, and the only way we will know is if you run the benchmark for a baseline power utilization screenshot and then another screenshot of monster hunter wilds but with your power utilization

For instance the B580 uses about 90w on monster hunter wilds out of 145w compared to the superposition benchmark

I have already opened a thread about this and they are looking into it for the battlemage series cards, if the issue is also with the alchemist cards, then they should know about it right away.

Gonna add my data to this:

Using a i9-9900k @4.8Ghz all core, 64GB RAM and an Intel A770 LE 16GB

Getting the same results as posted above, can see difference in attached image between different settings, FSR with and without frame gen, and XESS

Running the game in 1440p, only main changes to frame rate is the quality of FSR/XESS from ultra-performance to quality, can gain 4-8fps, and enabling frame gen, other graphical settings make no difference in the frame rate.

I have already made a post about it previously.
Inside, you will find multiple examples of the intel graphics card not delivering consistent power across different titles.
I am already being assisted with this, but i do think that the issue he is facing here may be due to the same thing.


If power delivery is the problem, it will be important to note. I will then add the A770 to the list so that it may help my support staff pinpoint the issue.

1. My gameplay process is very standard and follows routine operations. My current settings are: medium preset + 2K resolution + FSR frame generation enabled. I cannot share videos directly unless you can access BiliBili (a Chinese platform). If possible, let me know, and I will upload the relevant videos there.

2. Using driver 6078 allows relatively stable gameplay. Other drivers available on the official website generally perform at half the efficiency of 6078—driver 6078 pushes my FPS to 36, while others only reach 18 FPS or lower. However! This frame rate still falls far short of what this GPU should deliver. That said, if future drivers can outperform 6078, I’m willing to update.

3. I can provide SSU logs, but since my current driver is fixed at 6078, the logs may have limited reference value. Please cross-reference with my other hardware configurations (let me know if specific details are needed).

Thank you for the update.

 

Upon reviewing the SSU that you provided, I found out that the driver version installed for Arc A770 is 32.0.101.6078.

The latest that we have is version 32.0.101.6647. Kindly try to update to this driver version using DDU method.

If the game is still the same, please generate another set of SSU that shows the latest driver because I will use this SSU file as the basis for further investigation.

Let me be blunt: There’s no need for me to test this. Do you not have A770 units in your labs anymore?
Based on my data, the latest driver (6647) still only delivers 20 native FPS, whereas driver 6078 achieved 40 native FPS. If you no longer intend to sell the A-Series, just say so—there’s no need to waste everyone’s time.

The issue is clear: Driver 6078 proves the hardware is capable. What you need to decide is whether the A-Series is still part of your sales strategy. If compatibility between A-Series and B-Series drivers is the bottleneck, split them into separate driver updates instead of asking me to run meaningless tests.

Perhaps you can clearly explain the necessity of these tests? That would be ideal.

Same issue here. Game runs maximum 25ish fps with any driver after the new Intel Graphics Software. I've tried 6252, 6257, 6559, 6632. And yes all with DDU to clean up the previous installations. With 6078 it is playable with FG, but with these new drivers the game is completely non-playable with constant 20fps and lagging. I don't bother trying the latest 6647. 

 

Sadly there's a text corruption bug in MSFS2024 with the 6078 driver, so in order to switch games I have to DDU and install another driver...

Kindly update the driver, you may use the version 101.6732 or the latest. Please use DDU first before updating the driver.
