ASUS ROG STRIX B850-I
TEAMGROUP T-Force Vulcan DDR 5 32GB 6000mhz
ONIX LUMI Arc B580
Corsair SF750 Platinum
sample crash, taken with previous motherboard, (accidently bent the old one's pins when testing a new one...)
When I first got this card, I had no issues with Star Rail, playing on max settings in 1080p.
I moved my parts into a new case and that's when I my PC restarted without a BSOD less than a few minutes of combat. I tried lowering my graphics settings which delayed the restarts for a day but then it went back to restarting after a couple minutes.
This doesn't happen with other Hoyoverse (Star Rail's publisher) games I play: Genshin Impact, Zenless Zone Zero, or other games: League of Legends, Valorant, Apex Legends, Tekken 8.
I tried swapping out every single component, which was everything besides the CPU, GPU, and storage. None of this worked. Also, nothing is overclocked, and I tried undervolting the GPU and CPU which didn't help.
I came up with the idea to run the game off integrated graphics through changing a setting in Windows 11 for Star Rail specifically, and while it didn't look pretty, it did run.
Probably a week after that, I then remembered that when I didn't have this problem in my old PC case, I was using a PCIE gen 3 riser cable. In my new case my B580 is plugged directly into the motherboard. So, I made my PCIE slot to be gen 3 in the BIOS and so far, a couple days, I'm able to play at max settings again without an issue.
I wanted to post this here since a found a solution that worked for me and may help others, and in case anything comes up as for the reasoning for why switching to gen 3 works.

Hello arclength,
It appears that you are experiencing issues while playing Honkai: Star Rail. Upon review, it seems you have identified the root cause as the PCI generation. Please be informed that for the Intel Arc B580 to function correctly, the motherboard must have at least a full-size PCI Express 3.0 (or newer) x16 slot. It is possible that your motherboard BIOS settings are configured to use an older PCI version, which may be the reason for the issue you encountered.

Manually setting it to gen 4 or 5 in the bios also causes restarts within minutes.

Hello arclength,
I'm sorry to know about this and thank you bringing this to my attention. Just to confirm, is it working fine when using PCI Gen 3? Is the issue only happening when changing the PCI Gen to 4 or 5?
I hope to hear from you soon.
Best regards,

PC restarts on AUTO, Gen 4, and Gen 5. I just tested trying to get through a relic domain on Gen 2 and Gen 1 and they both worked for that duration, I didn't test that long but at the very least they it lasted longer than Auto/4/5. The rest of my current gameplay is on Gen 3 which has worked flawlessly for several days now.

Thanks! bro. After switching to PCIe Gen3 via the motherboard BIOS, I can now play Star Rail without issues. While it might slightly reduce performance, it's still better than disabling Resizable BAR.

Thanks for the workaround, would never have thought to try changing the pcie gen. Hopefully Intel can get to the bottom of this bug sooner than later
