How to Override XeSS Quality Settings? (XeSS Inspector)

Hello, I am not a developer, but I think XeSS Inspector is a very good program.

Especially, it is very interesting to know the input size.

Among them, I would like to try the Quality Override function.

Since Tekken 8 does not yet support XeSS Ultra Quality Plus of 1.3.1, I would like to utilize this utility.

After setting the override function, a warning appears that XeSS should be turned off and then turned on again, but Tekken 8 does not have a XeSS On/Off checkbox. So I selected another upscaler (NIS, TAAU, etc.) and returned to XeSS, but the settings were not overridden.

Is there a way to use this function? Please tell me how. Thank you.

Hello GTX,

Thank you for patiently waiting, about the XeSS inspector is a tool designed to simplify the validation and debugging of XeSS integration in the application. On the XeSS Inspector the "Overrides" section can allow you to perform experiments on XeSS integration without modifying the code of the application. You can quickly test various parameters on it as well which includes the "Exposure Scale", "Jitter Scale", "Velocity Scale, "Quality, and "Init flags".

Additionally, please do note that all override options are tied to the current XeSS context. As such, when applying experiments, context re-creation is not allowed. The settings found within this section can't be overridden by 3rd party tools.

Some experiments require re-initialization from the target application, indicated by a yellow warning icon. Depending on the integration, you could select a different quality level or perform similar operations from within your application to initiate XeSS re-initialization. For a successful override, it's important to ensure that the XeSS context is not re-created throughout the process.

Let me know if you have other inquiries that I can assist you with. Looking forward hearing back from you.

Hi GTX,

Thank you for posting in the community, I just have some clarification. Can you share to me more about why would you like to use the XeSS on Tekken 8? Also, are you trying to test on something, if yes can you share to me more as well about this? Also, what driver version you currently have on your system?

Hi, this is my personal interest and hobby.

I'm trying to force the option in games that don't support all the resolution scaling of XeSS to check the performance and quality.

Not all games are as generous as 3DMARK XeSS feature TEST.

Especially games that don't support XeSS 1.3 yet, don't have presets like Ultra Quality Plus, Ultra Performance, etc., so I think XeSS Inspector might help.

I know XeSS Inspector is not a game option changer utility. If it doesn't work, then there's nothing I can do.

Hi GTX,

I see that you want to try using the Ultra Quality Plus of the Intel XeSS. How about I try to investigate this internally and provide you an update about this. Because I have seen that Tekken 8 currently support the version 1.2 of the XeSS. For me to accurately reproduce this, can you perform the System Support Utility (SSU) for me. This is to capture your system set up and will help us to reproduce it properly. You can follow this link for instructions and send the text file here. How to get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows

Hi, I will provide all the information to solve the problem.

In games that do not yet support XeSS 1.3, you can get Native Anti-Aliasing, Ultra Quality Plus for high quality, and Ultra Performance for high performance by overwriting the libxess.dll file.

Of course, the best way is for the game developers to update XeSS 1.3 quickly.

However, since Tekken 8 developers are less interested in non-game elements, we have to find another alternative. Could the XeSS_Inspector feature be the alternative?

Hi. Yes. I found out that XeSS Inspector is not suitable for use in released games.

Ultimately, it is up to the game developers. I am constantly asking for feedback from game developers,

but I don't know when XeSS 1.3 will be supported.

Hi GTX,

That is correct, as it is up to the decision of game developers. As for the XeSS inspector it mainly function as a test material for game developers as well. As such can you confirm to me if I answer you inquire properly? If so, can we close this thread?
