Hello.
I'd like to ask one question that could probably be considered a problem or has probably been forgotten by the driver team.
As an ARC 770M owner in my NUC 12 Enthusiast, I have to say that I have never received any firmware update for my dGPU - which is quite strange, since most people using non-M cards have had firmware updates in the past.
Even the latest .4952 drivers have bumped up the firmware again - and still the A770M lags behind (same goes for the A770M in the Clevo X270PTA).
Could someone please explain this to me? Is it just an oversight, or is there something else that makes the A770M so different/harder/impossible to update?
I checked the driver package and there is definitely no firmware package for the A770 mobile variant.
Regards.
Have a nice day!

Hello mikolaj612
The firmware update included in the Intel® Arc™ is a unified package for the cards that includes the firmware/drivers for all SKUs. The installer will look for the correct file and determine the SKU, if it’s an integrated graphics card (iGPU) or dedicated graphics card (dGPU), the correct firmware for the card, and install it. However, it is important to mention that since you have an Intel® NUC Enthusiast, you should install the drivers validated for this product instead of the Intel Generic drivers. Based on our driver website, the latest driver you should have installed is version 31.0.101.4575, so we recommend you install this driver and check if there is a change in the firmware version.
If not, then we would like to ask you to create a system report using the Intel Graphics Command Center:
- Open the Intel Graphics Command Center
- Navigate to the Support tab
- Select System Diagnostic
- Click Generate Report
- Select Save and name the output file.
Best regards

Hello.
It seems that OPROM DATA is missing - because every driver version I tried did not bump my firmware version - however I had prompt that it could happen.
After checking installer files some files for brands like ASUS, Acer etc. are present - however NUC is not included.
As far as I know somefiles are unified/common for specific model/version, but some pieces of firmware are dedicated for vendor specific device.
This is why ARC 770M is already a year behind in term of firmware to what is actually available for it desktop counterparts.
Log included just in case.

Hello mikolaj612,
After conducting a thorough review, we would like to inform you that the most recent driver for your NUC is version 31.0.101.4575, which includes Firmware version 20.1049.0. Based on your report, it appears that the 20.1053.1.0 firmware update is currently functioning on your system. However, it is still recommended that you use the latest validated driver for your NUC to ensure optimal performance.
Best regards

It semms that even dedicated GPU drivers do not have any firmware driver.
From what I saw myself - my unit came with slightly newer FW for ARC 770M out of the box - my unit has been made late 2022.
Anyway it would be nice if Intel actually push some updates for mobiles variants of their Arc series, because from what I could tell those are clearly left behind - it's not ARC 770M related stuff, but also ARM 730M.
It's as simple as adding proper OPROM_DATA into driver package - which is a super small file overall - I know that mobile variants are super rare but making them obsolete at certain point due to lack of firmware is not nice.
Especially when M series are suffering pretty much same issues like their desktop counterparts, for example higher idle power usage etc.
I think it would be nice if Intel push FW updates that will make M series on par with desktop somewhere soon and eventually unify firmware package to avoid similar situation in the future.
I do like how my NUC works and behaves - it becomes my daily driver for pretty much everything, however current FW situation is a grain of salt that is hard do explain.

This whole firmware question is something I wanted an answer on...
I went from the WHQL 4953 driver back to a previous driver.
During the re-installation of that earlier driver, I did notice that it installed a firmware as part of the process.
Why was it installing a firmware when it had already installed one during the WHQL 4953 driver?

By previous drivers you mean which version?
Also would you be so kindly to post GPU-Z screenshot with your VBIOS version?
There is also HDMI firmware inside driver package - maybe it was updating HDMI output?

There is a driver Version released (101.5008 in Dec 4th, 2023 that contains the firmware Update 'dg2_d_intel_serpent-canyon-a770m_oprom-data.rom'.
According to Arc Control ... System Info... IFWI (V-BIOS) changed from 20.0.1053 to 20.0.1064 after flashing 'dg2_d_intel_serpent-canyon-a770m_oprom-data.rom'.
