Hello,

AsRock Intel Arc B570 Challenger OC 10 Go

Screen freezes just after BIOS, unable to enter GRUB, reboots in a loop after 10 seconds, with and without NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti.

Whether on an iso USB key, or on an installed system, Ubuntu 24.04 with and without installing the recommended drivers on the Intel Doc : Intel® software for general purpose GPU capabilities.

Best regards,

Hi, _VGA_.

Thank you for posting in our Community and providing detailed information about the issue you're experiencing with the Intel Arc B570 on Ubuntu 24.04. It appears that your system is entering a reboot loop after the BIOS and is unable to reach the GRUB stage, regardless of whether you're using an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti or not. Based on the details provided, it seems there may be a conflict with the system's GPU drivers or hardware initialization. I would like to know the following details:

  • You mentioned having both an Intel Arc GPU and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti. Have you tried running the system without the NVIDIA GPU installed to see if the issue persists with only the Intel Arc B570?
  • Does the system continue to reboot in the loop only after BIOS, or do you experience any issues during the initial boot process before the system reaches GRUB?
  • You mentioned that the screen freezes right after the BIOS. Just to clarify, does the system freeze on the BIOS load screen itself? This will help me investigate the issue further.

If you have already tried any steps to resolve this issue before contacting us, please let me know so we can avoid repeating any unnecessary actions.

Have a nice day!

Hello, Von M.

Thank you for taking the time to answer me.

Yes I tried the Intel GPU alone as well as with the NVIDIA GPU connected at the same time as the Intel, in fact I tried all possible combinations. as I wanted to mention above.

I can enter the bios. Once the system bootloader is launched, everything freezes whether it is with an installation USB or a system already installed with and without the Intel drivers.

I forgot to say that with the USB installation I can enter GRUB but it freezes a few seconds later.

I even tried to install kernel 6.12 except thatbut kernel 6.12 does not work either with and without the driver installed.

I had to remove it because there were too many incompatibilities with my system.

I hope I have answered most of your questions, do not hesitate to ask me again the one I forgot.

I also flashed the BIOS

Best regards, thank you very much

hello,

Thank you for taking the time to answer me.

I will describe all the steps point by point a little more clearly, tell yourself that all the procedures I performed, I did them with the Intel GPU alone as well as with the NVIDIA GPU connected at the same time as the Intel, in fact I tried all possible combinations. as I wanted to mention above.

Hello, _VGA_.

Thank you for the detailed update and for taking the time to try all the possible combinations. It sounds like you've made thorough attempts to resolve the issue, and I appreciate the information you've shared. It’s clear that the system is freezing during boot, whether using an installation USB or with an already installed system, and even after trying different drivers and kernel versions. The fact that you were able to enter GRUB for a brief moment before it froze also provides some helpful context. In the meantime, I’ll look into this more thoroughly and get back to you with more accurate information as soon as possible. I appreciate your patience, and I’ll be in touch soon with an update

Hello, _VGA_.

I appreciate your patience. To better assist you, I would like to clarify a few points regarding the freezing issue:

  1. You mentioned that the freezing issue occurs with all possible GPU combinations. Could you please confirm if the screen freeze also happens when only the NVIDIA graphics card is inserted?
  2. Have you checked the temperature of the system while staying within the BIOS? This information will help us determine if overheating might be a factor.
  3. Did the freezing issue start after installing the drivers from https://dgpu-docs.intel.com/driver/client/overview.html ?
  4. Is this the first time you have integrated the Intel Arc B570, or has the graphics card worked without issues before?

Hello,

The NVIDIA GPU works very well on its own.

The Intel arc graphics card has never worked with or without the driver installed.

The temperature of my GPU as well as my CPU is much lower than normal .

have a liquid cooler for the CPU as well as 8 fans.
- ** Memory: ** 128.0 Gio
- ** Disc capacity: ** 158,0 To

I use my nVidia graphics card for artificial intelligence.

Except that my graphical interface as well as all open documents consume a lot of vram resources and others, which is why I opted for an Intel card for my graphical interface, to then have my Nvidia card dedicated solely to artificial intelligence.

  • I didn't mean to say it like that at first but if I gave you all this information from the start, it's to let you know that it's your driver that's the problem and not my system.

Hello, _VGA_.

Thank you for providing such detailed information about your system setup. Based on your description, it seems the issue might indeed be with the Intel Arc GPU drivers, especially since the NVIDIA GPU is working well for AI tasks and your system hardware seems fine. I’ll need to conduct additional research on this issue and will post an update in this thread once I have more information about this matter.

Hello,

Thank you for answering me, do not hesitate to leave a solution and it may help someone other than me, it will always be useful.

Since it took you a while to answer me, I preferred to return the product for a refund.

I prefer to upgrade my motherboard and put a CPU with integrated graphics card instead.

Best regards.
