Intel Arc Control Assist Memory Leak

Horrible performance from Intel Arc Control Assist. Multiple updates in a row, multiple restarts in a row. I am shocked that this bug still exists for a Intel software. Incredibly frustrating that this software is effectively garbage, using all resources it can until it crashes my computer.

Was this software even tested a single time? How is this software continuously receiving updates but a simple google search of this bug shows that it is a incredibly common issue with the software? How is intel this laughably bad at simple software?

Current Driver version:

31.0.101.4648

Device name MSI
Processor 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700H 2.70 GHz
Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.7 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Bug details: An 1080p external monitor is connected which is likely triggering arc control to freak out.

Hello Horizonman

Thank you for posting on the Intel® ARC™ Graphics Communites. I know this memory leak issue coming from Arc Control can be very annoying. I will be glad to help with this one.

We received reports of a memory leak problem that was affecting some users on an older driver version with Arc Control version 1.73.5334.1 specifically, we tried to address this issue as soon as possible since we understand the severity of it since it affects the overall system performance. Newer versions of Arc Control starting with version 1.73.5335.2 should not be affected by this issue.

Based on the above, my first recommendation is to get rid of your current installation of Arc Control and update to a newer driver version, please let's try using Display Driver Uninstaller which will help eliminate driver leftovers as well as the current installation of Arc Control, once uninstalled download and update to our latest driver version 31.0.101.4900.

If the issue persists, I would like to get detailed information on your system drivers and hardware from the Intel® System Support Utility since there might be an optimized version of the driver on the system manufacturer's website.

Best Regards,

Yeah, the third party tool that you had recommended me to really is a good look for the software and community.

I manually uninstalled all Intel display drivers and will not be reinstalling.

It is laughable that the app needs to be completely reinstalled for it to be updated, what is the point of the update window then? You're telling me that intel is maintaining a service for a known faulty driver version, with no built in way to update it at all?

Joke of a software.

Hello Horizonman,

Thank you for providing us with the information. We understand that you have decided not to reinstall the new updates. However, we would like to let you know the importance of keeping your system up to date, so you can have the latest fixes for your system. We recommend that you update to the latest driver version 31.0.101.4952, which includes Intel® Arc™ control version 1.73.5335.2.

Additionally, we suggest using our Intel® Driver & Support Assistant to receive notifications when new driver updates are available and to download the full driver package. The Intel Arc Control software update should be included in all new driver packages, so it should be updated automatically when you install a driver update. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and we appreciate your feedback as it helps us improve our products and user experience.

Best regards

Hello Horizonman

We are interested in helping you with this issue. Please let us know if you were able to update and use our latest version of Arc Control which should not contain any type of memory leak issue. Addressing your questions from your previous post Arc Control should be updated automatically along with the driver once you update it, if your Arc Control was not previously updated it might have been the update method used or something might have happened while the driver was being updated but every driver installer with a new version of Arc Control will update both the driver the app.

Please consider reevaluating the memeory leak as synonim to performace degradation, which exposes as additional power consumtpion on Linux systems.

Details in https://community.intel.com/t5/Intel-ARC-Graphics/Intel-ARC-A770-Limited-Edition-16GB-not-showing-image-on-CSM/td-p/1542700

Clearly .. 50+ degrees C is damned disgrace and nonsense for card that is wayyyy more powerfiul than my previouys XFX Radeon RX580, which was almost COLD on IDLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Horizonman

We have not received a response from you so we will be closing this thread. As explained in the previous post each driver installer should update both the driver and the Arc Control app. Also, the memory leak issue is not happening in the latest versions of Arc Control, there is certainly still room for improvement in our software, however, at the moment is working fine with no major issues encountered. In case you still experience this issue feel free to reach out and open a new topic so we can further assist.
