League of Legends Performance with A770

Hello,

I upgraded my GPU from an nvidia GTX 1080 8GB to Arc A770 8GB, I was getting 240 FPS at 4k with the same settings. Now with the arc, I get 180 FPS.. can you optimize the driver or suggest any solution? I also got a new PSU which is 1000W and from a good brand.

My monitor has 240hz so I want to reach the same FPS as my monitor Hz.

  1. What is the graphics driver you are using?
    • Confirm you are using the latest WHQL graphics driver available (let us know the exact driver version you are using). YES.
      • A clean driver installation using DDU in safe mode is recommended. Follow this link for instructions. I did this the first time.
      • You could also test using the latest Beta driver. Our Beta drivers go through all Intel quality assurance processes and are safe to use for evaluation. Yes, installed the latest .
  2. Tell us the name of the game or application and where to obtain it (Steam, Epic, etc.) League of legends.
  3. Provide us with the Intel SSU report from your system.
    • If you do not wish to submit the SSU report then at least provide us with the following information about your system:
      • Processor make and model. AMD 5900X
      • Motherboard make and model. Asus X370 PRO
      • Amount of memory (RAM). 32 GB
      • Operating System version/build number.
        Microsoft Windows 11 Pro (64-bit)
        Version (Build)
        23H2 (10.0.22631)
      • Power Supply make and model.
        Deepcool PX1000G 1000W
  4. Tell us the steps to reproduce the issue (this is very important!). League of Legends at 4k and maximum settings.

Hello TripleX,

Thank you for providing this information. I will now coordinate with our engineers to simulate and replicate the issue. While it appears, you are using updated drivers, we will check for any compatibility issues.

Additionally, I would appreciate it if you could send us a video or screenshots showing where the performance drops during the game. This will help me isolate and diagnose the problem more effectively.

I look forward to your response. Thank you for your cooperation.

Hello,

I also updated the driver to 23/08 release (latest). I'm sending you a video link to you directly as they are too big to upload here.

If you notice, the game starts at 239 FPS (as I have it capped at 240) and then starts to go down. I then removed the cap, went up to 300 and then down again. As the game goes by the FPS gets even lower and sometimes reaching 50 FPS at times (when Lux was throwing abilities).

Let me know if you were able to see the videos. I also don't tinker with the Arc options.. I don't overclock anything, not even CPU/Memory and I have what I consider a high end system.

Regards.

Does this help you? I don't see temp being a problem but there is throttle for some reason?

Hello TripleX,

As you know, these GPUs are relatively new, and optimization is still ongoing. The Arc A770, in particular, has shown notable improvements with each driver update, though it may not yet be fully optimized for all games and settings.

Since you recently updated the drivers to the latest version, could you please share your method for downloading and installing them? Specifically, did you perform a clean installation or use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU)?

Hello,

I did DDU when I switched from my other card. Then every time I install a driver I use clean install option downloading the driver from the your webpage as the automatic update doesn't work at the moment (Please do fix it asap, it is very annoying to check periodically for driver updates).

Just an idea would be to try to optimize drivers for esports games as FPS is important on those.

Thanks.

Thank you, like today.. with no background programs running I was getting drops to 70 fps and average of 120/140. I'm checking from my side if this has something to do with any other program but I play this game for a long time and it was fine with my other GPU.

So, it looks like after restarting it works fine for a while.. then again the FPS drops till I restart again. I also uninstalled Blitz overlay and is the same, so I guess is confirmed is something related to the driver.

Hello TripleX,

As we work to resolve the issue you're experiencing. To further troubleshoot and replicate the problem, could you please provide the following information:

  • Screenshot of Game Settings: This will help us replicate the issue using the same settings as you.
  • Rebar Status: Is Rebar enabled on your system?
  • SSU Logs: Please obtain the Intel® System Support Utility for Windows* logs so we can double-check your system configuration.
  • CapFrameX Data: If possible, please share the CapFrameX data to help us examine the game performance further. For instructions on how to generate the logs, please click this link and look for "About CapFrameX" to follow the provided steps.

Your cooperation is greatly appreciated, and it will assist us in resolving the issue more effectively.

1) Game settings are 4k, all to the max and frame cap at 240 fps. Playing ranked in summoner rift map 5v5.

2) Rebar is enabled

3) Attached SSU Logs

4) Attached CapFrameX Data. You should notice that when I start the game it is around 240fps.. then in the subsequent captures performance drops even near 100 fps and hovers around 175 fps.

EDIT: When I then play another match the same happens... so i have no clue why performance degrades.

Hello TripleX,

Our team is currently in the initial phase of replicating the issue you've reported, and we would greatly appreciate your assistance. Could you please try the following steps for isolation purposes and share your observations with me afterward? Recording your findings or providing screenshots would be especially helpful.

  1. Check with a different HDMI/DP cable.
  2. Check with different ports (HDMI/DP) on the same display panel.
  3. Check with a different display panel from another vendor.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work to resolve this matter. Your input is invaluable in helping us understand the situation better.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon!

1) I checked with 2 different DP cables and is the same

2) I checked also and is the same

3) I was having the same problem with another display with your card.

As mentioned, I was having the same setup with a GTX 1080 and there were not any problems. So I don't think it is related to cables or my monitor.

Hi,

I tried and there is no change, the FPS are all over the place same as before. Even I disabled the HT cores in my Ryzen 5900X but no changes. Did a clean installation of the drivers as usual.
