Raytracing bug in the water for Doom Eternal's DLC

The line on the left side of the screen appears with water in the blood swamps level in Doom Eternals DLC.

Settings: 4K, 1440p, 1080p, Any settings will show this as long as RT is enabled.

Processor: Ryzen 5 7500F
Graphics Card: Intel Arc B580 LE
Motherboard: Asrock B650M Pro RS WiFi
Ram: 32GB ddr5 6400

Not reporting this because it's a game breaking issue or anything I just assume intel needs people to help them find bugs in games for their GPUs.

Hello Bonus,

Thank you for posting this issue on Intel Community, but for us to determine the line issue with your game, kindly answer some of my questions below.

1. Does the line only appear in Doom Eternal's DLC?

2. Have you updated the graphics drivers?

3. Can you provide a video where the line appears?

4. Can you provide a screenshot of your settings?

And also to support you further, kindly provide an SSU for us to know better your system information.

1. Download Intel Support Utility for Windows.

2. Scan: Check the box Everything.

3. Review: When finished scanning, click Next.

4. Lastly, click save.

Hey thanks for the reply John, I did a little more testing and figured out it's not just in the DLC but on all reflective surfaces like metal and water throughout the game. The bug is only for when raytracing is on and nothing is wrong with the image with RT off.

I'm using the latest drivers for the B580 so it says no available updates in the intel driver software.

Video (YouTube): https://youtu.be/Pm47vH-d494 Shows the visual bug and video settings used.

SSU file included.

Hello Bonus,

Thank you for providing the information I needed to replicate this issue. Kindly give me enough time to investigate this issue and why it has a line on some parts of the game.

Once done, I'll get back to you immediately.

Hello Bonus,

Posting this as a follow-up; I'm still replicating the issue with Doom Eternal. May I know if by lowering the graphics, the issue still persists?

Hello again john, Yes I can confirm that this issue can appear across the main game and DLC regardless of the settings or resolution as long as raytracing is enabled. From what I can tell certain effects or all effects of raytracing only appear to work on the very left side of the screen. Are you having trouble replicating the issue? It's not a big issue as the raytracing in Doom is hardly noticeable anyway but I do worry about what it means to Doom the Dark Ages since that game is supposed to always have raytracing.

If I can help further let me know and thank you for all this.

Hello Bonus,

Thank you for that information. Just letting you know that I'm still investigating this issue, and it will take time. But once done with this replication, I'll get back to you accordingly.

Hello Bonus,

After reviewing your current driver version, it appears to be outdated. Please update to the latest driver version, 32.0.101.6559 WHQL Certified. If the issue continues after updating, please follow the steps for a clean installation of Intel® graphics drivers in Windows* using DDU.

Additionally, could you confirm if you have tried the following troubleshooting steps?

  • Use a different HDMI/DP cable.
  • Test different ports (HDMI/DP) on the same display panel.
  • Check with a different display panel from another vendor.

Best regards,

Hello, yes I always use DDU when installing new drivers and quickly checked again with a fresh install of the 32.0.101.6559 driver following using the latest version of DDU to clear the original drivers and the issue is still present. I can also confirm that it isn't an artifact of the monitor since it shows in recordings. From what I can tell by looking at the artifact it seems like certain raytraced effects are not working correctly on the far left side of the screen.

I don't have another monitor to check with but through the video I linked in the earlier post you should be able to see the missing RT effects. I also checked to see if disabling Display Stream Compression would fix the issue but it did not.

Thank you again

Also I want to note that this isn't a visual artifact that appears constantly and is specifically an issue with raytraced reflections on reflective surfaces in Doom Eternal while raytracing is enabled so I'm not sure if the monitor or display cable is the issue.

If you aren't sure what to look for in the video it's easier to notice as an absence of reflections in some of the metal surfaces or as a change in the color of the metal due to the lack of reflections. Like a mirror that only shows a reflections on the far left side and the rest is not reflective.

Thanks for sticking with me

Hello Bonus,

Thank you for confirming that you always use DDU when installing new drivers and that your B580 drivers are up to date. Since you don't have an extra monitor, I will investigate this issue in our lab to find a solution.
