Hello! I have a freesync monitor that doesn't seem to have the option of VRR enabled on Intel Graphics Software. The monitor is an AOC 24G2/BK, which should in theory support it. On the monitor settings, it's enabled, and I've tried two DP cables (one which I use on my AOC G2460PF, but that monitor has VRR working on both cables). I have tried to update the drivers, on both the monitor and GPU, but to no avail. In my old RTX2060, I could turn it on (using FreeSync support as it doesn't have GSYNC support). Could it be an issue with the monitor itself?
Thanks in advance!

Hi CarmiMori,
Thank you for reaching out to the Intel Community Forum! I appreciate your message and want to assure you that I’m here to help with your concern. To better understand the issue and provide accurate troubleshooting, could you please share the following details:
- Which DisplayPort version are your cables? (e.g., DP 1.2, DP 1.4)
- Are you able to test using an HDMI 1.4 cable?
- Which specific DisplayPort input on the monitor are you using? (Some monitors have multiple DP ports with different capabilities.)
- In Windows Display Settings > Advanced display settings, what refresh rate options are shown? (Does it list variable refresh rate options?)
- In your AOC monitor’s OSD menu, what is the exact name of the FreeSync setting and what options are available? (It may appear as “Adaptive Sync” or “VRR.”)
- Does your monitor display any indication when FreeSync is active? (Some monitors show an icon or message.)
- Are you running any display-related software that might interfere, such as MSI Afterburner, RTSS, or other monitoring tools?
- Have you tried connecting the monitor as the only display by disconnecting other monitors temporarily?
- Did you use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) when switching from your RTX 2060 to the Arc B580?
- In Device Manager, do you see any warning signs or issues under display adapters?
Additionally, if you have any other questions or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’ll be happy to help.
Best regards,

Hello! Both are DP 1.4. I unfortunately do not have a HDMI cable at the moment, and am using the only DP port on the monitor. On the monitor itself the option FreeSync is on, but it doesn't have an indicator that it's on. In Windows it shows it's not compatible, however it used to show as compatible on the old GPU. I have made a full reinstallation of windows after changing the GPU, and it doesn't work even without monitoring software or being the only monitor connected. There seems to be no warnings on Device Manager.
Thanks for the fast reply and also thanks in advance!

Hi CarmiMori,
I hope you are doing well. Please answer the following questions for further investigation and analysis of the issue:
1. In Windows Settings > System > Display > Advanced display settings > Display adapter properties > Monitor tab, what refresh rates are listed? If possible, please include a screenshot.
2. When you right-click the desktop and go to Display settings > Advanced display settings, what does it say about VRR compatibility? Please provide the exact error message.
3. Have you tried downloading the latest Intel Arc drivers directly from Intel’s official website instead of using Windows Update or the pre-installed drivers?
4. Can you verify if VRR is enabled at the system level by running the following command in Command Prompt: dxdiag /t dxdiag.txt and then checking the display information in the generated file?
If you have any questions or need further clarification, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Best regards,

Hello! I'm using latest drivers (32.0.101.8331), I try always keeping them updated on Graphics Software. The resolutions, VRR compatibility message and DxDiag.txt follows attached.
Thanks in advance!

Hey! Since your old RTX 2060 could use FreeSync, this might be an Intel GPU limitation, as not all Intel graphics fully support VRR.
Make sure VRR is enabled in both Windows and the Intel Graphics Command Center, and try different refresh rates. If it still doesn’t work, it could just be a compatibility issue with your Intel GPU and that monitor.

Hi CarmiMori,
I hope you are doing well and thanks for getting back to us. Please try to remove completely the Graphics driver using Display Driver Uninstaller and update to Graphics Driver 32.0.101.8331 (WHQL Certified).
To uninstall the Intel Graphics Driver from your system using the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) software, follow these instructions:
- Download the latest version of the software.
- If you download the Installer, run it, it will create a shortcut on the desktop.
- If you download the Portable/ self-extracting version, look for the executable and extract it. Remember the path.
- Reboot into Windows* safe mode. (Refer to Start your PC in safe mode in Windows.)
- Look for the shortcut on the desktop (step 1.1) or the extract path chosen (step 1.2.1) and run the DDU executable.
- Click Close in the Options window.
- Select device type to GPU and select device to the one you want to remove. If you are doing a clean-up, you can choose all GPUs.
- Click Clean and restart or Clean and Shutdown depending on your needs.
- Wait for the software to finish the process. It will automatically reboot Windows to the typical mode or shutdown the system.
If you have any additional questions or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Hello! Thanks for the fast response. Unfortunately, even after a full reinstall of the drivers (using DDU for removing the current ones) the problem persists.
Thanks in advance!

Could you please try this driver: 31.0.101.4887
Please select Download this driver > Server of DriversCloud
This driver is quite old and not optimized for the B580, but it would be interesting to see if it would allow AdaptiveSync to be re-enabled via DisplayPort on the AOC 24G2 monitor.

Hello! Thanks for the reply. These drivers doesn't actually allow me to install, but that made me curious about the first Battlemage driver. Unfortunately, even on 32.0.101.6252 the problem persists.

Okay, that's a shame. I was hoping it would be possible to at least test the driver, since it helped a user with an Arc A-series graphics card before.
The problem seems to be known in principle.
Please create a Report for Intel Graphics Drivers and attach the output file here. This allows us to double-check the monitor's EDID.
If you do not have the Intel Graphics Command Center on your computer, you can read here how to install it.

Could you please try the following:
- Download the Custom Resolution Utility (CRU) tool.
- Run "reset-all.exe" from the download package and restart your PC.

Unfortunately, I've tried but didn't work... I don't really know how to create a custom resolution with VRR, but it was something I wanted to try as well

If you use cru and change the id to DELA179 it will work.

It's worth a try.
@boombastik: How did you come up with DELA179 specifically? Was it just a random choice, or did you have a template for it?

While not an official solution, it works as an workaround! Very intersting

In my opinion, you can safely use this workaround as a permanent solution. It shouldn't have any side effects.
