Problem using Handbrake and B580

When I encode video's with HandBrake when using my ASROCK B580 card and what happens is the encoding will stop for no reason and HandBrake from what I remember doesn't show any error's and it's almost like the encode was successful.

I noticed when using  the version below is where I started to having problems.

32.0.101.8135

32.0.101.8136

32.0.101.8247

I reverted back to 32.0.101.7028 because I wasn't 100% certain when the problem started happening as I update every time a new ARC Driver comes out.

I'm going to install 32.0.101.8147 again and see exactly what happens with HandBrake, when the problem happened it happened around 1 out of every 4 to 8 encodes would be my best guess.

Once I start having the problem again I will update this thread, just to be clear I have yet to have an encode fail while using driver version 32.0.101.7028

If any Mod's that read this thread can you please let me know if this is a known problems with the newer ARC drivers.

@KennethB_Intel I just got done installing Windows and updating everything and this time and the last time when I ran HandBrake I was also running fully up to date Windows 11 25H2.

In Task Manager the gpu was running at 71 to 79% this time and I was running Arc Driver 32.0.101.8250

@KennethB_Intel  I included the custom Preset File that I use for HandBrake, just import the file into HandBrake and it will be the only one under custom.

I can say how many times you may have to keeping retrying to encode a file to get a failure as I have done 50 to 60 encodes sometimes and I don't get a failure and then I can get 1 to 3 fails out of 12 or 15 encodes for whatever the reason.

I put the file in a zip file because the uploader for this forum did allow it the uncompressed file to be uploaded.

I also forgot to mention before and I don't know if this will make any difference but I also under the Preferences check off where it say say's Enable Low Power Quicksync Hardware and that's it under that tab.

Under Preferences for Work Priority Level I set that to High.

I also included screen shots as well.

@KennethB_Intel I just got done trying to download a bunch of video files and I had one file fail 3 times and not in a row because I put it in the Queue once I seen that it failed each time.

I can upload the files that I had problems with for you to try to see what you can do with them and I can upload them to a free site called sendspace but I need an email to post them there.

If you give me an email I can post them or you can also email me at tjw4700@yahoo.ca with an email to send the links to.

I understand that you may not want to or could be allowed to post your email on the forum so you don't get spammed to death,if you email me at my tjw4700@yahoo.ca I will not share the email with anyone period for any reason.

Hello Laroldski,

Just to clarify, the issue was experienced on driver version 8247 and not on version 8250.

Please keep your system updated with the latest driver version 8250 and monitor if any issues occur.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

@KennethB_Intel I forgot I could just get the links from sendspace after emailing the links to myself.

You can use these links to download the video files and I had to put the in a split archive an there's no password on the archives.

@KennethB_Intel The links in the post above are for the video file that failed many times on me and I think it failed 4 or 5 times.

The links below are for a file that failed once on me and I was using driver version 8250 for boht files.

@KennethB_Intel If you can't get any fails with ARC driver 8250 try 8247 and see what happens.

I haven't been getting fails lately with 8250 and I think 8247 was the more problematic driver.

Hello Laroldski,

Thank you for sharing the video. To further troubleshoot and ensure smooth encoding, please provide the following information and try the steps below:

  • Video source: If the video was downloaded from the internet, please confirm that the download completed successfully without any corruption.
  • GPU usage: Try disabling the AMD driver and run HandBrake using only the Intel Arc B580 GPU.
  • Test with another video: Please try encoding a different video file to see if the issue persists.
  • Alternative application: Check if the issue occurs when using another video encoding application.
  • Default presets: Try using the default HandBrake presets and see if the issue still occurs.
  • Video encoder check: Verify whether the issue occurs when the video encoder is set to H.265 (Intel QSV).
  • Output format: Check if the issue occurs when using the MKV format under the Summary section.

HandBrake Settings to Try:

  • Open HandBrake and load your video file.
  • Change the video encoder settings:
    • Go to Video → Video Encoder.
    • Select Intel QSV H.264.
    • Click Options and remove “Low Power” if it is checked or listed (this setting can cause crashes on some systems).
  • Use hardware decoding only:
    • Go to Preferences → Video → Hardware Support → Intel QuickSync.
    • Choose Prefer use of Intel Quick Sync for decoding video when using the QuickSync encoder and hardware is available for use.
    • Avoid leaving it on “Auto” or using CPU decoding.
  • Test with a short clip first:
    • Encode a small portion of the video (1–2 minutes) to confirm the settings work without crashing.
  • If the program still crashes:
    • Go back to Video → Video Encoder and choose H.264 (x264) instead of QSV.
    • This uses the CPU for encoding and is more stable.
  • Once the short test works, you can safely encode the full video.

Please try these steps and let us know if the issue persists.
