Problem with remotely enabling KVM on Intel DQ57TM using Manageability Developer Tool Kit v6.0

Hi,

does someone use for developing Intel DQ57TM motherboard ?

If yes, could some one check that KVM works on his motherboard ?

I have a problem with enable KVM on it.

I have full vPro 2010 platform (DQ57TM + Core i5-650) withconfigured localmanagement (password, computer name, ip from dhcp, enabled SOL+IDER+Legacy Redirection Mode, enabledKVM+Opt-In form remote IT and set User Opt-In to User Consent not required for KVM) but I couldn't enable KVM and use it with VNC viewer v4.1.3.

I try use scripts and instructions form "Quick KVM Remote Control for Brand New 2010 Intel Core vPro Processor Based PCs" article, but I got WSMAN error when try set KVM password.

Today I try use fresh new Manageability Developer Tool Kit - v. 6.0.10040.2, all works OK except setting KVM password and KVM port opening. Under Debug option in Manageability Commander I got this:

[plain]-> [14:57:15] CallFailed: AmtKVM.GetKVMOptInTimeout CIM error
CIM Fault
Code: (subcode: )

-> [14:57:16] Information: GetKVMSessionTimeout() detected SessionTimeout as 3
-> [14:57:23] CallFailed: AmtKVM.SetKVMRfbPassword WSMAN error[/plain]

When Manageability Commander try set KVM password I got this:

   at ManageabilityStack.AmtKVM.SetKVMPort5900Enabled(Boolean desiredState)[/plain]

Interestingly, when Manageability Commander try check 5900 port state operation is finished successfully:

-> [14:57:15] Information: GetKVMOptInRequired() detected OptInPolicy as False[/plain]

Do you think that problem is in iAMT 6.0 implementation on this motherboard?

I try use DQ57TM with bios TMIBX10H.86A.0025.2009.1202.2128 where is iAMT 6.0.2.1194 implemented,

and new bios TMIBX10H.86A.0029.2010.0203.1403 where is iAMT 6.0.30.1203 implemented.

Or maybe should I ask my Intel EMEA-ADC Desktop & Mobile Team engineer about this problem on DQ57TM motherboard ?

Hi Dariusz-

I noticed you posted a similar question on the Expert Center Link above. Have you modified your passwords to 8 characters? (still following the other password rules).

Hi,

I'm the DTK guy and will take this back into our lab. I did very limitted testing with "Opt-in" and/or "Legacy Redirection" enabled. Have you seen this same behavior with thethese options disabled? Feel free to contact us at our support email as well business-client-software-support@intel.com.

Thanks,

Tim

Hi,

you have right !!!

It's strange but password must be at least 8 characters, and contain at least one upper and one lower case letter, one number, and one symbol. This is minimal requirements. When I use 9 character password (like Tester12$) I couldn't set it. When I use 8 character password (in example: P@ssw0rd) KVM working.

It's very strange that password must be exactly 8 character long.

But thanks for help, so far, this is solution for me until I get more iAMT documentation and iAMT SDK 6.0.

I am trying to configure KVM on a DQ57TM but am not able to find the option in the ME. In the BIOS under the ME I am able to set the SOL/IDER config but there is nothing about KVM.

In the Manageability Commander Tool(v6.0.10040.2) it says that Remote KVM Settings are Unsupported.

Hello,

In addition to a vPro system with AMT version 6.0, you will need an appropriate CPU and integrated graphics.

It appears you may not have the required components.

Please try to run this command to get your cpu info: wmic pathwin32_processor get Name

Then refer to this site: http://ark.intel.com/

Hello Lance,

I'm using an Intel Pentium G6950 which it says has integrated graphics.

Unfortunately the Pentium line of processors do not support KVM.

vPro is only supported on by i5 and i7 processors.

And KVM is only supported by the following:

Desktop: i5-650, i5-660, i5-670

Mobile: i7-620M, i7-640LM, i7-620LM, i7-640UM, i7- 620UM, i5-540M, i5-520M, i5-520UM
