Neural Compute Stick, which harware to buy?

Hello,

some time ago I started to deal with machine learning and I am now ready to realize that I will need a hardware acceleration if I want to get further.

I bought the Google Edge TPU USB Accelerator a month ago, but I'm not happy with it.

Recently I found Intel NCS2, which I liked at first sight, until I read that this device is no longer supported.

What hardware can you recommend in a comparable price range that is up to date and has roughly the same software and system requirements as the NCS2?
I would like to work with Ubuntu 24LTS, Python, sklearn and Pytorch (possibly OpenVINO &friends).

My applications are more learning-related and I don't need excessive performance. Everything should remain manageable and not exceed my budget.

thank You,  Linus

Hi Linus2,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

The recommended replacement product for Intel® Neural Compute Stick 2 Is Intel® Vision Accelerator Design with Intel® Movidius™ Vision Processing Unit (VPU).

Please refer to here to purchase or review documentation for Intel® Vision Accelerator Design.

Hello Wan,
Thank you for your reply.
At first glance, it looks like this device is difficult to find and buy in Europe.

Hi Linus,

Sorry for the inconvenience.

The only viable option would be to contact a Distributor that is selling Intel® Vision Accelerator Design with Intel® Movidius™ Vision Processing Unit (VPU). For possible options, please refer to Section Supplier in  Intel® Vision Accelerator Design with Intel® Movidius™ Vision Processing Unit (VPU).

Hope it helps.

Regards,

Wan
