The following Enpirion® Power SoC devices have a Light Load Mode (LLM) feature that is adjustable with an external resistor (RLLM):

  • EN6337QI
  • EN6347QI

Due to process variation, the LLM threshold can vary considerably from part to part. It is possible that with a given RLLM resistor value the device may not exit LLM operation at full load. Device production test is carried out with a 75k-Ohm RLLM resistor. With a 75k-Ohm RLLM resistor the device is tested for 100 mA LLM and 1.5 A PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) operation.

You should initially try a 75k-Ohm RLLM resistor in your design. You can reduce the RLLM resistor to 43.2k-Ohms but should confirm that when under full load, your Enpirion Power SoC device exits LLM operation and enters (PWM) operation with your chosen RLLM resistor.

If you have designed your schematics to use LLM operation and no longer wish to use this feature, you can try an RLLM resistor value of 5.1k Ohm which should force the Enpirion Power SoC device into PWM operation even at no load.

You should confirm that your load can operate with the increased level of ripple produced when the Enpirion Power SoC device is in LLM operation. Ripple specifications are detailed in the respective Enpirion Power SoC datasheets.
