Dear Support staff

I am a university teacher of a Japanese university. I have a class on LSI and FPGA designs.

I highly appreciate for very kind and patient supports until now.

From the last week, I have visited the following web site in order to get license files for Quartus II web edition which are used for my class. However I could not reach the license request page. I would highly appreciate if you could address this problem.

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/programmable/support/support-resources/download/licensing/lic-q2we-success.html

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/programmable/support/support-resources/support-centers/licensing.html

Best regards

Shigeki Takeda, Ibaraki University Japan.

Hello

Welcome to INTEL forum. The Intel Quartus Prime Lite Edition software is recommended for teaching as it does not require a license. For university user, you could join The Intel® FPGA Academic Program https://software.intel.com/content/www/us/en/develop/topics/fpga-academic/membership.html and request the university license https://software.intel.com/content/www/us/en/secure/develop/fpga-membership-details.html by filling up the License Request Form. If you have any question regarding University Program, drop an Email to psg.university@intel.com as university license is under Intel university team.

Our university team will help and answer your question

Dear Intel support staff

Thank you very much for your quick reply. Actually, we purchased several tens of FPGA boards for my class about 15 years ago. Because of financial problems, we have still continued to use these boards in my class. These boards are equipped with ACEX 1K FPGA. I confirmed support situations of this target FPGA on the following web site.

https://fpgasoftware.intel.com/devices/

According to the information on this site, ACEX 1K requires the Quartus II web edition up to 9.0. I tried various Quartus II software versions which does not require installation of a license file before. However all the software did not contain ACEX 1K as a target device.

Now, I  could access to the license request page shown below and I could receive a license file.

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/programmable/f/download/licensing/lic-q2web.html

However, although I specified the license file that was given by email, the Quartus II Web Edition (legacy version) did not accept the license file. After I specified the license file, the Quartus II Web Edition software still requests a installation of a license file.

I cannot prepare the enough number of recent FPGA boards so far. Although I think this is our problem, I would appreciate if your could address our problem.

Best regards

HI

Thanks for update. May we know, after specified your license.dat file, have you tried to do a Quartus compilation? If not, could you help to try it and report back if error happen with Screenshot of error message and Quartus II>>tools>>license setup.

You can also reply/attach your file in private message.

Dear Intel support staff

Thank you very much for your kind responses and supports. According to your instructions, I first requested a license file for my NIC again. After this, I started the Quartus II Web Edition software and then a license setup window automatically appeared as usual. I specified the license file. After this, an sample stopwatch program (project) which is used in my class was opened and compiled. Although no major error reports were shown, I think an rbf format netlist file was not generated; this is the same phenomena as past cases which occurred when a license file expires. I attached the ppt slide including screen shots and compilation reports.

Best regards

Hi

Thanks for update. Customer service team added a security license to you. Kindly advise shigeki.takeda.tmkyou@vc.ibaraki.ac.jp to generate a license file and regenerate again the .rbf file, see how things go.

Guidance: using Google Chrome, login to Self Service Licensing Center at https://fpgasupport.intel.com/Licensing/license/index.html --> select Computer and License Files --> Select a computer to generate a new license file.

Dear Intel support staff

Thank you very much for your patient efforts and supports. Although I am not confident in my operation, I could obtain a valid license file. After installation of it, I could also generate an RBF file and then I could implement the netlist to an evaluation board. I could confirm that the design worked well. Since there are several tens of computers in our class room for exercises using computers, I will request several licenses for test operations in the next weeks.

Thank you very much again for your kind supports.

Best regards

Shigeki Takeda, Ibaraki university, Japan.
