Hello intel community.
I am new to FPGA development. I am a graduate student in Electrical Engineering and my project is to implement a system using the NIOS II Processor.
I am confused about the licensing of the IP CORES and how to get them. Can someone please explain this to me. Are there any free options that I can use?

Hello
You can evaluate the Nios II processor without a license by using the Intel FPGA IP Evaluation Mode, and then purchase a license for the Nios II processor only after you complete hardware testing and are ready to go to production. (Manual page 31)
Manual - Intel® FPGA Software Installation and Licensing (page 22 onwards)
IP Evaluation and Purchase - https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/programmable/support-resources/intellectual-property/megacore-ip.html
SSLC - Intel® FPGA Self Service Licensing Center
local Intel FPGA representative - https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/company-overview/company-overview.html
Intel® FPGA Licensing Support Center - https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/programmable/licensing/support-center.html
Free IP Base Suite Licenses - https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/programmable/intellectual-property/ip-base-suite.html
Thanks.
Best regards,
Sheng

Hello @ntahoturi5922
Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.
We understand that you have some inquiries regarding licensing for Nios® II processors, which are designed specifically for Intel® FPGAs. We have a forum for those specific products and questions so we are moving it to the Intel® FPGA Software Installation & Licensing Forum so it can get answered more quickly.
You may also try posting on the Nios® II Embedded Design Suite (EDS) Forum.
Best regards,
Andrew G.

Hi,
Glad to hear that you find the solution provided helpful.
I'll now transition this thread to community support.
As that is effectively another new question about nios ii eds, I would prefer a new forum case to address it in Nios® II Embedded Design Suite (EDS) Forum with more description and may be sample project attached to get the support from Intel experts.
Thanks.
Best regards,
Sheng
