Quartus Prime Pro 18.1 works fine on our floating licence. Standard edition cannot find the licence server at all. Therefore we are having to use older version of Quartus II to support legacy devices. Looking at your website it seems to infer that if you have Pro licence you get Standard as part of the package. Why does ours not support standard edition?

I found the solution.
adding
FLEXLM_TIMEOUT 100000000
To the system environmental variables seems to fix this issue.
