Quartus Pro 23.4 installer unable to unzip agilex common QDZ file error

I am facing an install issue, where the installer is unable to unzip agilex-common qdz file.

I have tried multiple ways and it is consistent every time.

I don't have issue in other files, other components like Quartus Pro, Ashling, etc. get installed. After this, upon launching Quartus Pro, it says no device is installed, and offers to launch device installer. The GUI is unable to launch the installer, and I use "Start->Device installer". Unfortunately, I get the same "unable to unzip error" every time.

I have tried re-download, verifying the checksum, and uninstalling, rebooting and re-installing again.

There is ample storage space in the drive.

I have tried individual downloads of the file(s), using the combined exe GUI installer, triggering the install manually from the download location, and using the TAR package.

I tried trigger the device install manually many times with --unzip_tool option but it still does not work.

I am able to unzip the qdz file manually, but the device installer always fails.

I found other similar community messages:

Unable to install Arria 10 devices under Quartus Prime 19 on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, --unzip_tool option does not help. - Intel Community

I have Windows 10, OS build 19045.5487. This configuration is working for other engineers, however, my system fails.

I do have Quartus Prime 18.1 already, and I cannot uninstall it, since I need it for work.

Attached a screenshot of the error message

Kindly guide on how to proceed

Thanks !

Are you using the newer complete small installer that downloads files as needed or some other method?  Maybe list exactly what steps you are following to get to this point because it is not clear, especially since you reference a post about Linux but you are clearly using Windows.

.qdz is not a compressed file per se.  I always download from the "individual files" tab at the download center all the files I need.

I noticed you are trying to install the Agilex common files - Intel® Agilex® common files.

That file is a requirement to install Agilex 5 and 7. Have you try to download and install the Agilex5 (agilex5-24.3.1.102.qdz) or Agilex7 (agilex7-24.3.1.102.qdz) device?

As sstrell mentioned, could you try to install the devices using the Quartus Prime Installer?

Hi,

Thanks for your responses !

Did try all the methods suggested above. I believe the option for --unzip_tool should be used only for the top level installer/launcher.

I solved the issue, by using the tar files. They throw the same error, but if we invoke QuartusProProgrammerSetup-24.3.1.102-windows with the --unzip_tool, then it worked.

I have license issue now, the free license is not being picked up, and the old 18.1 license file works. I will continue debug on that.
Thanks again to both of you, for your responses

We can close this now.

Thanks,

Pranav
