1 Year Maintenance Fee for Intel Visual Fortran Professional

The 1 yr maintenancefee for the professional version is much higher than the standard version. $649 vs $200. The 1 yr fee is nearly what I paid for the upgrade from CVF pro to Intel pro.
Why is the fee so much more for pro? What should I expect to receive for the $649?
Thanks,
Lee

Somewhere back there in the archives of this forum, Steve explained IMSL fees passed through. If you don't need IMSL, you shouldn't pay so much.

Updates to the compiler as well as the IMSL component, which adds $900 to the cost of the compiler. Support renewal is based on a fixed fraction of the new license price ($1399 for IVF Pro.)

Is there really much going on withupdating of the IMSL library? It seems like a lot of money for little gain. What new features would I expect from the IMSL library?
If you have the pro version, are you allowed to get maintenance for standard version only?
Thanks,

I know there is both maintenance and development of IMSL going on, but I can't speak to specific features. There is a new release of the compiler coming out this year which would have an updated IMSL.

I don't think you can get just the support renewal for Standard with a Pro license. You could always buy a Standard license, which is $499, and get the support renewal the year after for $200. You would no longer get updates to and support of IMSL.
