I am a new bee to the world of programming but learning Fortran for some work I am doing on the side. I have just downloaded the Fortran compiler to my bran new MacBook Pro without any hiccup. Can someone help me to locate
1. what commands do I need to run the compiler in a MAC environment 2. how do I get my text editor connected to Fortran or say which one would you recommend in terms of writing the program in a MAC environment Many Thanks HAS
I am a Linux user and thus can't directly help with the Mac. But my favorite Fortran editor Code::Blocks should also run on a Mac: http://www.codeblocks.org/features . I use the compilers from the command line solely. Another good place to ask for help with general Fortran questions is https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/comp.lang.fortran .
Hello, Malik. Like another responder, I use Linux, but wonder if the Mac is packaged as a tar (zipped or not) as is Linux. If it is, i.e., not as a .dmg file, perhaps it is as simple as untarring, and running the install.sh in the top directory of the untarred tree. You do have to have a license, or else be using a trial version.
