IVF and f90SQL-Lite

Hello everyone,
Can I use f90SQL Lite with Intel Visual Fortran v8.0? If not, what are my options? Do I set up a data environment in VS .NET and use that? Do I use the Windows API to go at the ODBC environment directly? Do I suck it up and purchase full blown f90SQL (in addition to theprice to bring IVF in-house)?
I'm in the process of test-driving Intel and Lahey. I love the conversion from CVF to IVF and loveIVF's archaic Fortran support! Lahey has a better price, though, and comes with f90SQL Lite.If I can interact with a database from Fortran, I don't need the Fortran 66compatibility since I can convert my direct access datafiles to databases.
I appreciate any advice!
Thanks in advance,
Robin

Cainaima Software is working on the f90SQL port for IVF now.
Are you sure Lahey has a better price? It doesn't look that way to me.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the information.

Am I missing something about the Intel/Lahey pricing? I see Intel at $1199 for a new user license of IVF Pro and $849 for an upgrade from CVF 6.x until June 30, 2004. Lahey is showing $1095 for Lahey 7.1 Enterpriseand $795 for Professional. I need a mix of upgrades and new licenses.

Thanks,

Robin

Intel's "Professional" includes IMSL 5.0- Lahey no longer sells IMSL and never did have IMSL 5.0. The closest equivalent products are Lahey Professional ($795) and the combination of Intel Visual Fortran Standard ($499) and MS Visual C++ Standard ($100), total $599. (Street prices for the Intel compiler and MSVC tend to be less.) So the Intel solution is $200 less
Lahey's Enterprise Edition includes .NET code generation, which we don't offer.
Be sure you are comparing equivalent products and that you don't buy what you don't need.

Hi Steve,

I didn't really look at the IMSL inclusion - we haven't traditionally needed it for our coding. But that doesn't mean we won't in the future ...

I do have the original IMSL pack from the days when IBM used to hand out the source code, though ... :-)

I will have to do some more research, I think ...

Thanks for the answers on f90SQL. At least I know its a soon-to-be feature!

Greetings All,
Does anyone know anything more the CanaimaSoft's Port? After going out and buying all of these INEXPENSIVE IVF licenses, I can not port any of my odbc code.
