Installation Problem with XE. The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed

I have beeb using Intel Fortran Compiler 11.1.065 (following CVF) and just purchased XE 12. On step 16 of the install I get an error message as follows:
The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance.

I have tried to install on two different PC's both with XP with SP3 and get the same results. I installed successfully on a Windows 7 test PC, but cannot upgrade my XP machine yet. My tech guys checked a few things with Windows Installer and made sure I had administractive rights but with no luck. Any suggestions as to what I need?

Again, no luck. I also chose the option to not do the full installation and unchecked the option to intergrate witht Studio 2008, but got the same results. Our tech guran a "fix" program that fins problems when programs have issues on installs and uninstalls. That "corrected" a few "items" but afterwards we got the same problem. Tomorrow we will re-image my PC with a "new copy" of XP and try the installation at that point.

After I reimaged my PC (cleared all files and installed XP like it was a new PC), I was able to install the latest version of XE without issues. At this point we have no clue as what was causing the problem.

Thanks for letting us know. This sort of problem can be very difficult to track down.
