I am trying to install the fortran compiler on Snow Leopard. Everything seems to go fine until I get to the summary, where it tells me "The installation failed." I have no indication what the problem could be. It spends time saying files are being written, but nothing in /Developer seems to change.
Update: I redownloaded the package and used the license file that was emailed to me instead of typing in the activation code myself. Now the installation is successful. I don't know if the problem was I needed to use the license file, or maybe my previous download was corrupted. I also did more exploring into the custom download location to discover it's installed to /opt/intel, not /Developer.

Glad you read you successfully installed the compiler and determined the default installation location. Its unclear what might have caused the initial install failures. Our apologies for the inconvenience.

By default, the compiler tries to create a license file directory under /Users/Shared/Library/Application Support/Intel/Licenses.
Some applications change permissions on /Users/Shared/Library/Application Support/ and remove write priviledge. This could be the cause.
