Installing old compiler on new machine

I have recently acquired a new laptop, and I wish to transfer my Fortran compilers to the new machine which runs Windows 7 x64. My old compiler is verison 10.1, on a CD, and my latest update is version 11.1.35, as a download.

Whereas the 10.1-version installs without any problem, the update refuses to install. The setup program gets stuck on reading the license file and has to be terminated using the task manager.

Are there any ways to get the more recent version to work? I use the command line only, so the visual studio integration does not matter.

11.1 versions prior to 11.1.48 were withdrawn on account of problems with Win7 installation. If you can download such a version, that should correct your problem.
Otherwise, it may be worth trying the XP compatibility to see if the installer will work.

Thanks for the suggestion. It turns out I was even more fortunate. I tried again, after my system was updated to SP1. And now, the installation worked.
