Recently, I have noticed another annoying behavior from VS. Yesterday, I used the profiler in a different project, which I finished and forgot about. Today, I opened an EXE and the associated source in the VS debugger and clicked the green right arrow icon to start debugging, after having done the compiling at the command line. I was startled at being shown menus appropriate for a profiling session. This quirk may not affect users who do all their builds inside VS, or who start VS using an existing .SLN file.

I moved this into its own thread, as it was not related to the other thread.

Can you explain the sequence in more detail? I didn't follow it.

I tried to reproduce and document the problem, but failed. I'll try again later. Anyway, this is a minor issue and involves a slowdown of only a few seconds.
