Hello,
I am working with my IT admin to install Parallel Studio XE Composer Edition for Fortran Windows with Microsoft Visual Studio Pro 2013. My IT admin downloaded w_fcompxe_2015.4.221 and tried to install it but during the install process the install splash screen would come up for about 20 seconds the then disappear without any warning or errors. When I would try to create a new project, I did not see an option for Fortran. From another forum post on this site, I thought it might be a problem with the security certificates so my IT admin downloaded sfsroot.cer and installed it. This time the installation would get further along approximately 1 to 2 minutes but again the splash screen would disappear without any errors and no warning. Again, when I try to create a new project, there is not option for Fortran, only Visual Basic, Visual C#, Visual C++ and Visual F#. My computer is running Windows 7 SP1, 64 bit. Any thoughts on what we might try?
Thanks in advance

The security certificate issue was fixed in Update 3. It almost sounds to me as if some other process on your system is killing the install but maybe something else.
If you look in your Windows TEMP folder (%TEMP% in the Search box will pull this up) there will be a folder whose name starts with "pset_". Under here are the install logs. It might be helpful to zip the log of the latest failed install and attach it here, so I can send to the install developers for analysis.

I looked in the Windows Temp folder and there is no pset folder. I think the install is crashing before it creates it. Any other ideas to try?

A log file would be expected, but this looks somewhat like the case where there is an incompletely removed conflict, as from a prior vtune install. On win7, such a situation might be repairable by msicuu2.

I wonder if your admin really is installing 2015.4.221 as that version doesn't have the security certificate issues. You might try Tim's suggestion of running the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and removing any traces of an earlier Parallel Studio XE install, but I'm not too confident that will help

The admin really is installing 2015.4.211. He downloaded it to the desktop and I can see the file. Is there some install documentation that we can look at to see if maybe we are doing something out of step?
I will also try the Windows Installer Cleanup.

The release notes has install instructions but I don't think there's anything there that would help you. Please look again for the "pset_..." folder in %TEMP%.

Hello Steve,
I have check again and there is still no pset_ folder in %TEMP%. My only guess is to try and uninstall MSVS and delete the Intel folder that has the setup.exe and try an reinstall everything. I have no idea if that will change anything but at this point I'm out of ideas. I really need to get this working soon.

Try a reboot and temporarily disable any antivirus program you have running. Sometimes these will interfere with installs. If this doesn't help, perhaps we can do an interactive remote session where I see what's happening on the system.

Okay, I'm back on this with a lot of help from my IT admin. I work for the Air Force and disabling the firewall is not an option. We are trying the install and still running into the same problem, the splash screen comes up for 20 seconds or so and then just closes, no errors or popups or anything. My IT admin went into the event logger and he found a bunch of errors that have the time stamp of when we were trying the install. Below is a screen shot of one if the errors. It seems that the install is trying to go out to the Intel repository and we are getting blocked and that makes the install hang up and then I assume closes because nothing is happening. Steve, do you have any suggestions. We have tried this both with he 2015 and 2016 offline and online installers. As a side note, we tried this on a contractor computer that is not connected to the Air Force network and it installed with no issues.

If you can download the full offline installer on another computer and copy it over, that should eliminate your connectivity issues.
I have had no luck with on-line Windows installer; among other things I seem to get much worse routing to Intel download servers on Windows than on linux, even though I'm using the same router.

Tim, thank you for your suggestion. We had previously downloaded the full offline installer on another computer and then copied it over to this one, still having the same issue.

I've inquired with our Installation Development team about the Windows event details. I'll let you know what I hear back.
