VS 2022

VS 2022 is still updating if you have VS 2022 installed, but if you try and get VS 2022 from Microsoft, it is not available.  You are correct there are copies one hopes elsewhere.  

MS has moved us all to VS2026 without warning.  

I meant this to go under Steve's post, but with only one message per session it is hard if you make a mistake on loading.

Microsoft's model for VS downloads is similar to Intel's for oneAPI; unless you have paid support, you can only download the latest version.  For those of us with a VS subscription, VS2022 of various flavours and versions is still available for download.

I took one of the 2022 community installers from a non Microsoft site and it worked nicely on a new computer.  

The latest update for Windows 11 pushed out in November is actually an earlier Windows Preview insider's  Build 26000.24.03.11 - 1435                   (28000.br.release.25.11.03-1709) - the 1709 is now. 

winaerotweaker lets you put the build on your desktop. 

Luckily I have some of the old Fortran installers so I can get IFORT for the new machine.  

The other annoying feature is that the Windows button does not work on some computers and it needs a total reinstall.

I have to say I baulked at downloading a (potentially) malware infested   version from a third party. I guess if you have the digital signatures intact that offers a reasonable level of comfort. There is technically probably a breach on Microsoft copyright involved in such a download I would suspect. The "solution" is to pay for MS support of VS.
