The last time I had to revise and recompile an old Fortran program that I wrote, we had CVF 6.? on Win 98 or some old Windows OS. I don't have to do it often but wanted to get a Fortran compiler that would run on Win7-64 in case I want to dig into my old Fortran programs. I originally learned Fortran IV back in 1967 in school.
I'm the last of the Engineers that wrote Fortran programs at our company and I may have a need to revise some code and recompile to get it to run on our PC's so I just need one license for myself.

An Intel Visual Fortran license gives you access to both the 32-bit "ia32" and 64-bit "intel64" mode compilers. ia32 works with both 32-bit and X64 Windows; if you will support only X64, you would likely choose Intel64.

Thanks for the reply. What package of Intel Visual Fortran should we look at ordering? There were some that included C++ and other libraries IIRC. I don't do any flavor of C and am probably too old to learn. ;)

George,
If you don't need cross-language compilation and linking, then Visual Fortran Composer XE is what you need. You can get a version with an embedded copy of Visual Studio, which saves you the additional expense.
If you download the trial version, then this will be essentially the same version.

The Visual Studio Shell (for Fortran only, no C or C++) is bundled with the purchased version only. For the trial, you can first install a trial copy of Visual Studio Pro 2010, 2012, or 2013.

Thanks for the tips David and Tim. We have a little budget money we need to spend by the end of the year so my wish list was to get a Fortran compiler. Now all I need to do is train my replacement to read and revise my old Fortran programs before I retire.

Hi Steve. Thanks for the name. We have used SHI as a reseller for Autodesk products and I think they are listed as a reseller for the Fortran package. I have contacted them but have not heard back yet.

Dear Participants,
Is it possible to buy Intel Visual Fortran compiler as a stand-alone product? I see from the discussion that i can get the compiler as part of big and not very cheap packages. But i need only the compiler. I work under Windows 7 64 bit but i develop only ia32 applications.
Thank you.

The product you want is now called "Intel Parallel Studio XE 2015 Composer Edition for Fortran Windows". This is the compiler, Intel MKL and a Fortran development environment based on Visual Studio. It supports building both 32-bit and 64-bit applications. We don't break it down further.
